I feel like I actually have PTSD from living in this apartment. To start, maintenance and housing would just show up completely randomly, and at time housing let themselves in my apartment, while I was present in my bedroom, without knocking, and only announced themselves when they were standing in the hallway of my apartment. It is very intrusive, especially housing. Good luck with roommates, I’m sure most are fine but mine was insane. I now have PTSD of people knocking on my front door because of how often housing and maintenance came, and the anxiety it caused me when they would come. Cockroaches are also a thing in both apartments in lived in in UV

To begin, if I could leave 0 stars I would. No one actually wants to live here, people have to because either a) the dorms have gone beyond their capacity and there is no other option or b) people have no other option for housing as they are students. I have not had hot water for a week now, the staff does not fulfill work orders in a timely manner or any manner at all: I have had one open for a year and a half and they close it but no one has come to fix my tub (which very badly needs resurfacing, picture is attached). There is a roach problem in many of the buildings especially the older ones, I left for three days (I never leave food or drinks out) and came back to 18 cockroaches roaming around the apartment. Housing also basically kicks out existing residents who have lived here for years to make room for incoming freshman (because the school rarely if ever thinks about how they are way past capacity). My door doesn’t close all the way and my roommate’s room has very bad water damage and I wouldn’t be surprised if mold was growing here. Save yourself the time and do not live here and go to a different school. I would have transferred if I wasn’t so close to being out of here.

Questions & Answers

Does anyone know which phases of the UV apartments are infested with roaches?

The older you go the worse they get because they hire the cheapest contractors to try to patch it up yearly. 3 definitely has a ton of roaches and they're massive. So in order 1 is the oldest phase and so forth.

Are there any time restrictions as to when a person can enter or exit from UTD Village? Are furniture like Bed, Table, Chairs etc provided by UTD village? Which rooms include microwave and washer/dryer?

There are no time restrictions for UV, it's mostly just a normal apartment complex. UV doesn't supply beds, tables, or chairs. Some units (the 4x2 floorplans) have a desk built-in in the bedrooms. Canyon Creek Heights are the on campus housing option with provided furniture, but they are more expensive. All units come with a microwave. The 4x2 and the more expensive 2x2 units come with a washer and dryer. The other floorplans have communal laundry buildings.

Does University Village apartments come with beds?

No

How does it work family housing at UTD? Is it a good place for families?

I'm not entirely sure that there's specific housing set aside for families. I would ask the office about the rooms and pricing specifically. But I'm a single mother and I live here with my son ( 5yrs). He's small and I'm poor so we just have a one bedroom with the living room and kitchen (no roommate of course) and I've never had any problems living here with him. There's a elementary school down the street (5 min drive). I do know that one of the phases does have a playground and that's nice. I've even take him to a couple school events with no problem so over I would say it's a good place for families
