We love Andy’s! We had a leak that another irrigation company had failed to fix for over a month. I called Andy’s on a Friday, and they were at my house the next Tuesday. By that evening, the leak was fixed AND they’d fixed a few other little issues for me. Their staff were on time, professional, and knowledgeable. I love the text system that lets me know when they’ll arrive - no sitting at home and wondering! The price was a little high, but you get what you pay for! They replaced several leaking sprinkler heads and left the yard in good shape despite having to dig in several spots. I will absolutely be using them again!

We were quoted 5-8x the price our lawn company charged. Andy’s both exaggerated (wildly) the number of fixes needed and wanted to charge exorbitant prices for quick fixes. Honestly, it was shocking. Don’t bother getting an “assessment”. Edit: they charge $95 for the assessment, which is now paid work and I am reviewing that. As stated above, I just feel like they try to take advantage of people that have little time.

The technician that came out had a very good knowledge of sprinkler systems and how to locate the problems. Prices are a little expensive especially for 45 ft of wire at $500 where you can buy it retail at home Depot for $50. Other than that they did a very good job.

Disclaimer: this negative review has nothing to do with the service received from the technicians. The technicians were friendly and courteous. This review focuses on pricing/value of this company. We have been noticing some issues lately with dead spots due to poor coverage in our yard and some sprinkler heads not being tall enough to clear the grass line. We were hoping to get a tune up performed to see if maybe some heads just needed an adjustment rather than a full replacement. I scheduled a check-up appointment with Andy's and they wanted to charge me $95 to come out and perform a basic checklist (if you mention a radio ad they will lower the service call fee to $75). Well the technicians came out and literally just turned our sprinklers on and stuck a flag down next to each sprinkler location. Then they proceed to mostly tell us the same issues we had already identified ourselves (poor clearance, poor coverage, and a couple damaged heads), and inform us that they want to charge us $50ish per head replacement which totaled out to $800+ for all the work they identified. Sprinkler heads at Home Depot are anywhere between $5-$15 a piece and they want $50 per head. How can they justify these insane prices?! They weren't talking about doing electrical work or digging out pvc in our yard, just replacing heads. I can do that myself, but would have liked to outsource it to a professional. I was expecting somewhere between $100-$200 for that kind of service. The service charge just to come out and tell me what I already knew was frustrating. A consultation visit should be free in my opinion or at least only charged if you do not elect to proceed with their proposed repairs. Either way the "check up" fee should be less, even $75 is too much for the little bit they do. The repair charges themselves were ludicrous. I would have never guessed they wanted $50 for each replacement head especially when they are $5-$15 at Home Depot. I get labor charges are factored in, but these guys are professionals and could have probably replaced each head in 5-10 minutes. I cannot imagine what my estimate would have been like if I needed serious repairs done like electrical work, valve work, etc. I think this company needs to seriously re-think their pricing. Had their pricing been more reasonable I probably would have asked them to proceed with the repairs and this review would have been a positive one. Would not recommend this company.

Yes we do! Give us a call at 817-608-0660 and we'll be happy to schedule your service appointment.
Hello Nick - yes, we do, however that will be from our new Rockwall location (you landed on our Southlake location page). That number is 469-892-1014. Thank you for your inquiry, and we look forward to hearing from you!
There are many reasons that your sprinklers might not be working correctly. One of the mostcommon issues is that the sprinkler heads are not properly directed; they can get knockedout of place if they are in high-traffic areas and might end up watering the pavement rather than your lawn! If no water is coming out at all, then in some cases that can mean that you have a broken or clogged pipe. You might also have run into trouble with tree routes. Another major issue is that your valves might be broken or disconnected form the electrical system. If you’re having sprinkler trouble but don’t know what the issue is or how to fix it, then contact a professional sprinkler repairman at Andy’s to help you figure out what to do.
The first step is to check to see if your GFI is malfunctioning. If the plug, or breaker circuit, is the issue, you will need to get a licensed electrician to change that out. Once the GFI plug is working properly, the pump will be removed to see if the motor is faulty, or just backed-up with debris. Our fully-stocked trucks are equipped to handle a pump motor replacement, or a drain clean out, to restore your sump pump to optimum working order.
To diagnose a leak in sprinkler system, a team of licensed Andy’s Technicians will arrive during your scheduled visit and first check the double-check to make sure that the leak is in your irrigation system and not your main line. If it is in the main line, you will need to call a plumber for the repair. If the leak is in your sprinkler system, the technicians will perform a complete diagnostic of your system, discuss their findings with you, and provide you with an estimate to complete the repairs. And because our technicians arrive in a fully-stocked Andy’s truck, repairs can typically be completed during the same visit!
Standing water, often called “nuisance water,” is very common in Texas. The causes of nuisance water vary, but there are many solutions that Andy’s can provide. The first step to addressing your concerns is to call your local Andy’s team and schedule a free evaluation of your property. A licensed irrigator will come out to your home to evaluate your nuisance water issues, and provide a free estimate to fix those issues once and for all.
Those green boxes in your yard are valve boxes. They are protective enclosures that house sprinkler system valves and critical wiring essential to the operation of your system. In addition, the valve boxes provide easy access for technicians to inspect and repair any malfunctioning valves, if needed. So while you may get the urge to cover those up, please don’t! The Andy’s technicians at your next service call will thank you!
Installing a new sprinkler system controller is not always as simple as removing a few screws and matching the vale wiring. When the licensed technicians at Andy’s install a new controller, we run additional tests to ensure the wiring voltage is adequate, run water line pressure tests, evaluate watering coverage, check for leaks, program zones for watering restrictions, optimum watering times, and duration, and more. Once installed, the technician will walk you through the ins-and-outs of your new controller, and answer any questions you may have so that you feel confident and ready to run your system on your own. If you’re considering upgrading your controller, we recommend speaking with an Andy’s expert first. While we’re happy to help you install a controller you purchased on your own, we do not warranty customer-supplied products.
No, winterizing your system in Texas (outside of the Panhandle) is not necessary. On average, North, Central, and South Texas experience fairly mild winters. And when we do get the occasional wintery blast, the freeze zone in our soil is typically less than a foot deep. Because of this, properly installed sprinkler systems in Texas have lines that are buried below the freeze zone, eliminating the need to winterize the system (i.e., flush all the water out of the lines). Above ground is a different story; if your system does run during freezing temperatures, this can cause damage to your plants, icy walkways and driveways, or worse. Therefore, if temperatures fall below 40 degrees, we recommend turning your system off completely until the weather warms up. This is even true if you have a rain / freeze sensor, which, if properly maintained, should prevent your system from running during freezing temperatures… better safe than sorry!
Drains that show signs of being clogged – limited exit flow for the conditions (e.g., heavy rainfall and very little water exiting the drain), or water pooling around the drain grate – you should start with a routine drainage clean-out. Our licensed technicians will inspect and clear the grates, catch basins, sump pump filters, etc. of any accumulated debris, apply gentle gradual pressure to the drain with a garden hose, and see if the clog is resolved. We do not use a plumbing snake to inspect the line; outdoor drainage pipe joints have 90-degree bends, which are impossible for snakes to navigate (inside your home the plumbing lines have more gradual bends). If these steps do not resolve the clog, a further diagnosis by a licensed Andy’s technician will be required, as the situation could be a broken line, a more substantial clog, etc. Estimates are provided on-site, and upon your approval repairs are typically complete during the same visit.
Watering duration per zone depends on many factors. For example, a sprinkler system zone that is in full or partial shade may require less run-time time than a zone in direct sun, not to mention seasonal weather changes that also affect watering requirements. Additionally, different plant varieties – such as flowers, bushes, and grass – can have varying watering requirements. During a system tune-up or diagnostic, our licensed technicians will run through the whole system to evaluate the specific requirements for each zone of your system, and adjust watering times for each zone.
There are many factors that impact the investment to improve your irrigation system. Adding additional heads to an existing zone can change the delicate balance of necessary water pressure to feed those heads, so it may not be as easy as simply adding new heads. And adding new zones requires additional wiring, water lines, valves, adjustments and/or possible changes to your controller, and more. Because of these various factors, we recommend that one of our licensed technicians visit your property to provide an accurate, expert estimate to improve your system. Being in business since 1987 means Andy’s knows sprinklers, and all the nuances that come with system improvements.
If broken, the average sprinkler system head can waste 13-16 gallons of water per minute…or more! That’s enough to fill a normal sized bathtub in less than five minutes! Because of this water waste, we advise that you keep your sprinkler system OFF until it has been checked by one of our licensed technicians. In addition to water waste, running your irrigation system with an existing issue can often times cause more problems to arise due to the water pressure change in the lines.
The two most common reasons for a sprinkler system to indicate that it is running, but not actually watering, are a rain/freeze sensor malfunction, or a wiring issue. If you have a rain/freeze sensor, it may need to be bypassed from the controller. We have a technician in our office who is able to walk you through the bypass or help you read your manual for your controller. If this does not solve the problem, there may be a cut wire out in the yard somewhere, which is causing the system to malfunction. Our technicians are trained and certified to locate problem wires to ensure you system works properly.
Yes, you can use the existing wire for low-voltage landscape lighting additions. However, depending on the size of transformer in your current lighting system, as well as the length of the pre-existing wire, the number of lights you can add may be limited. Andy’s experienced low-voltage lighting team can not only run additional wire and install new lights, but also provide lighting design suggestions to maximize the safety, security, and beauty of your home.
Yes, Andy’s can help! Because most pool fill valves are tied into your home’s sprinkler system, we can diagnose and repair your pool pump if there is a wiring issue causing the system to not turn on when needed. If there is a leak in the pump, or the pool’s water fill line is blocked, we recommend contacting a reputable pool company to further assist you.
Recommended watering schedules typically begin with your local municipality’s watering restrictions. These restrictions provide specific days and times that you are allowed to water. Once those restrictions are addressed, we will then adjust watering times and duration to maximize the required moisture to keep your plants and grass healthy and growing within that particular season. In addition, we will also assess the plants within each zone of your sprinkler system, and set specific watering durations for each zone according to the consumption needs of those plants.
Yes! We offer a one-year labor warranty on all repairs, improvements, and new installations we perform at your property. In addition, we also honor all manufacturer warranties on parts installed during your project. For more information on manufacturer warranties, please call your local Andy’s or speak with your technician while they are on-site.
Yes, all Andy’s technicians are licensed, bonded, and insured. Technician licensing requires a minimum of six months, or 1,000 hours, of irrigation-related field experience, not including the rigorous training we provide internally to ensure our technicians meet our high standards of professionalism and integrity.
Andy’s Emergency Service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! For a reasonable emergency shut-off fee, a licensed technician will visit your home after-hours or over the weekend to stop your irrigation system from continuing to waste water. Once complete, we’ll schedule a return visit during normal business hours to evaluate the problem and provide an estimate to fix it. To request an emergency shut-off, simply call your local Andy’s, select the option for the on-call technician, leave a message, and they will return your call as promptly as humanly possible.
Drip irrigation is a highly efficient watering solution that can be added toyour existing sprinkler system, or you can replace your entire existing system with drip irrigation. By delivering tiny water droplets directly to the soil, drip irrigation provides water to the root zones of your plants and grass, and is far more efficient than the spray nozzle of a traditional sprinkler system. Drip lines can be installed at ground-level, or below the surface of the soil. Best of all, drip irrigation is exempt from most watering restrictions, which means your landscape will receive the moisture it needs to stay green and lush year-round!
The primary categories of outdoor drainage are French drains, surface drains (including channel drains and catch basins), and sump pumps. One of our managers (a licensed irrigator) will come out to your property to perform a full evaluation of the nuisance water issues you’re experiencing, and determine which drainage solution will most effectively resolve those issues.
A Sprinkler System Tune-up from Andy’s begins with a team of two licensed technicians who arrive at your property in a fully-stocked truck (this ensures that common parts and tools are readily available, ensuring that most jobs are completed in one visit). After they introduce themselves, the technicians will perform a thorough system inspection and tune-up, which includes: adjusting all sprinkler heads, replacing worn-out or broken nozzles, inspecting for leaks, testing the rain / freeze sensor, and programming your controller for seasonality and local watering restrictions. Once complete, the technicians will provide you with an estimate for any repairs and/or suggested improvements they find, and, with your approval, complete those repairs during the same visit!

Rather than pouring large amounts of water onto your plants all at once, drip irrigation releases small amounts through a series of carefully installed pipes. This savesyouwork, and can actually also reduce water waste. Oneof the biggest reasons for thisis that it delivers water slowly when plants really need it, preventing you from overwatering; it alsoreduces water losses from evaporation and overspray. Because the system is so precisely targeted, it also stops you from wasting precious water on weeds between rows. A good drip irrigation system can save up to 80% of the water needed for regular irrigation. On top of saving you time, energy, and work, drip irrigation is better for the plants and helps out the environment through conserving water.
Every property is different, but some have more challenges than others. A French drain is an underground perforated pipe that draws water away from an exceptionally damp area, which means that it can make a lot of sense depending on where you live. For those who live at the bottom of a hill who have a lot of water running towards them, a French drain is probably a good idea. The same is true for people who have regular trouble with basement flooding. If you live in an exceptionally dry spot, though, or you have other drainage systems in place, then a French drain might not be your best choice. Consult a professional to see if a French drain is the right choice for you and your home.

Drip irrigation is an organized irrigation method that slowly allows water to drip directly to the roots of plants. Water is either channeled to the root zone or onto the surface of the soil using a network of tubing, emitters, and valves. Because the system delivers water directly to the base of plants, drip irrigation structures have been shown to greatly reduce the unnecessary overuse of water and fertilizer consumption. Using a drip irrigation system means that no water goes to waste on areas that aren’t supporting plant life. Additionally, drip irrigation enables water to move deeper into soil that in turn promotes deeper root growth. A good system will have little to no water runoff, minimal evaporation, and deep percolation. For many owners, this means significant savings in both water and monthly bills.
Drip irrigation systems are designed to be extremely efficient, which benefits you the owner as well as the environment. They rely on a low flow of water rather than the high pressure that is required to sustain traditional sprinkler systems. Drip irrigation channels slow drips of water directly to the base of plants. Delivering water straight to where it’s needed most reduces evaporation and cuts out wasteful runoff. Additionally, funneling water directly to plants means that this water will not become stagnant nor support the growth of unwanted weeds. Flexibility is another benefit of drip irrigation systems that boosts efficiency. These irrigation systems can be installed in both new and existing landscapes and can be easily adapted to work with a variety of terrains and environmental conditions.
