The museum design and glass exterior is exceptional! The dinosaur displays and the regional geologic history of the Kansas City area were interesting and informative. The museum as a whole, however was underwhelming. I guess I expected more after seeing the spectacular architecture. I left feeling like we didn’t see much and was a bit disappointed. I think Prairiefire has potential, but the museum exhibits were lacking. Another reviewer noted that there were hallways leading to nowhere. I agree, and found the layout to be quite confusing. I’m having trouble finding adjectives. I mean, this space could be a grand museum, but it just needs more…of something… If I were to tell my friends about this museum, I would tell them to go take a million pictures of the outside of the museum in all of its glory, but to skip the whole museum part on the inside. 🤷♂️

I know I've been here before, but today the Free exhibit was amazing! My step son loves dinasours and this was more than we imagined! He had a terrific time and we will be back again!

Such an absolutely beautiful architectural architectural museum it's great to watch the sunlight dance upon the painted windows and see the reflection inside on the Tyrannosaurus skeleton. Unfortunately their exhibits are quite limited but the architecture of this place is worth seeing alone

An exceptionally radiant and architecturally-unique building hosting many fun-filled and fact-filled exhibits for kids and adults alike. Admission is reasonable and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable! Family friendly and well worth an excursion for an afternoon. Be advised - their hours are open until 3pm!

Yes. There's a very hands on section upstairs where a twelve year old could definitely spend some time and be happily entertained. Digging for dinosaur bones, taking apart and putting back together dinosaur bones to make a full dinosaur, and some smaller live animals to look at as well. At the bottom level they can make their own virtual dinosaur, name it, and go into the lobby to watch it come out on a tv that is displaying those in the lobby and then the dinosaur they created walking through the screen. It's a pretty neat setup.
Yes and cheap love the computer anime you can create there and watch walkthrough the room free

Yes, in the discovery room they have brushes for kids to find fossils in a sandbox type thing. They also have a skeleton that's a puzzle that my kids loved.
