A great cause, buy books here!

Heirloom is such a lovely place to while away some time. The selection is broad, the regulars are kind and welcoming, and the community feel is exactly what you hope for in a used books shop. A truly sad note is that the owner passed away recently. She had struggled with a disease for some time and it finally took her from the community she so loved. The shop is now being cared for by one of the owners closest friends. He is working to maintain the shop as a legacy to the founding matron. If you need a book or a place to simply be the person that you are, I implore you to hit up Heirloom Books...you will be supporting yourself and a community that could use it. Sept 2022 Erik and crew have done wonders for organizing and caring for the shop. The selection remains broad and always expanding. This is a spot definitely worth your time!

Yes.
We do not offer store credit for trade-ins.
We are several blocks west of the Granville red line station. If you are reaching us by train, exit the station and walk west on either Granville, Hood, or Glenlake. Once you reach Clark, take a right. You'll find us after a short walk! We are also easily accessible by the 22 bus stop. We are between the Granville and Rosemont 22 bus stops.
There's plenty of parking nearby. We also have a bike rack right outside the store, and we are just a few steps away from the Granville 22 stop and the Rosemont 22 stop.
We do sell gift cards!
As of early May 2021, we are proud to announce that our volunteers either have been fully vaccinated or are in the process of receiving their second dose. We have hand sanitizers stationed throughout the store - both in the bathroom and at the register - and guests and volunteers are required to wear masks. We often keep our front door ajar, too, in order to promote airflow. We take health precautions very seriously, and we do not wish any guest to feel uncomfortable.
We are a brick-and-mortar store, but we do have a bookshop.org microsite: https://bookshop.org/shop/heirloombooks
Yes! Fido is welcome! We hope he likes reading!
A vast majority of our books, records, and media are donations. So, yes! Feel free to stop by with materials you'd love other people to love.
Yes! We have a number of cozy chairs and couches. Feel free to sit down, read, and stay for a spell to determine if the book is a good choice for you.
We evaluate the price of each book based on its condition and the market value of the book, as seen on Amazon and other online retailers. We generally price down from what you'd find on these websites.
Hello and thank you for your inquiry. I don't buy used books, but I do accept any and all donations and can negotiate offering credit or trade for said donations. I hope this is helpful and that you have a lovely weekend.
Hi James - We do sell rare books! Stop by to browse our selection. Or if you'd prefer to purchase in a reduced-contact fashion, simply give us a call to inquire about the book you've been shopping for.
Hi Bill - Our hours are 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm every day of the week except Mondays. If you are uncertain about our availability during holidays, please give us a call to confirm whether we are open - chances are we will be!
Hi Sherwen - There is not an event at the store tonight. We are currently updating our website to include an events calendar. Stay tuned to our website for updates on any and all events. Thanks for inquiring!
Hi Barbara, great question! Our inventory is entirely donation-based, in other words, we do not buy books.
Feel free to give us a call. Many an auteur have traipsed through our lovely bookstore for their next cinematic or artistic masterpiece, and we'd love for you to use our space to spread the good word of art.
Unfortunately, no. The books on display in the store are the only books available for purchase, and we do not place special orders for customers.
We are a non-profit organization and our team is composed entirely of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please give us a call, and we'll work to align schedules.
