I am trying to lose weight and the local YMCA is helping me to achieve my goal and to feel better about myself by giving me financial assistance. I don’t always feel comfortable in public places, but everyone I run into while I’m there is always super friendly, both staff and other members. It is very convenient for me to go first thing in the morning because the back of my apartment building faces the YMCA and I can walk there in about 30 seconds. Never pictured myself joining any gym or enjoying any form of exercise, but I started out with taking outdoor walks and discovered that exercising helps with my anxiety and makes me feel like I’m making an effort to get as healthy as I can be.
