What a trip!

I didn't camp but it was a great place to walk around and check things out. A very unique and interesting place to walk around for a few hours. If it's not too hot, spend some time with nature and have a good time. Don't forget your hat and sunscreen, there's a lot of sun out there out there.

A small stretch of sand dunes amidst Interstate 8. There is a rest area with pit style restrooms and deinking water. You can stretch your legs after a long drive.

A permit is needed for access between October 1 and April 15 of every year. Permits should be purchased before arrival, as they are only sold on site on weekends, but not having one will still cost you $500 if ticketed. Between April 15 and September 30, no permit is needed.
No, there is nothing left of the sets. The witches eye that was the pit monster Sarlacc is still there, if you know where to look in the buttercup valley.
Camping allowed, need $35 parking pass for each vehicle. No running water.
Not sure you can check in Yuma AZ or El Centro CA.
You can check the BLM site but the Dunes should be open.
Not sure, the park ranger office was closed when we went.
Accessible always...but the restrooms I don't know.
