On 10/2/22, I took my two-year-old daughter to ED due to a persistent fever not resolving even with an alternating dosages of Tylenol and Ibuprofen. The ED physician did not examine her ear for infection and simply listen to her breath sounds said to continue the treatment and if symptoms worsen, bring her back to ED. Today when I followed up with my pediatrician and he said she has a left ear infection! The ED physician did not bother to check her ears! I would not recommend ED for pediatric patients , especially when the whole process is to rush the patient without even making diagnosis or to make an appropriate assessment. It would be interesting to see the detailed bill.

Financial Warning!!! I wanted to post a warning for anyone going to a doctors office visit in the hospital. I was scheduling my routine 20 week pregnancy ultrasound and was told to pick an office. I had gone to other offices in previous pregnancies but this time the office located in the hospital was most convenient. The hospital charged my insurance $2500 just because they claimed the it was their equipment. The doctor charged me $350 separately. Previous ultrasounds taken at other offices were no more than $500. If I had known I would be charged such an outrageous amount I never would have scheduled at that office. Please be careful when using the facilities located in the hospital. I would definitely recommend going somewhere else if it’s available.

Before I behind, I understand there is a shortage of nurses and I have all the respect in the world for them, but the way we were treated by them and Dr. Mueller was unacceptable. I had to take my wife to the ER yesterday. Got there around 3, checked her in, then proceeded to sit until about 6:30. I know everyone going to the ER has different needs and some conditions maybe more pressing than others, but dozens of people who came after us were seen first, as my wife was in extreme pain sitting in a wheelchair. Once we did actually get taken back, we were placed in a room by ourselves for an hour without any attention. I did hear all of the nurses at the nursing station directly outside our room complaining about how their Chipotle orders got messed up for about 15 mins, so I hope they got that resolved. Even as my wife vomited on the floor and my father in law cleaned it up ourselves, no one came to check. Finally, after an hour, a nurse came in but not to check on her or treat her, but to move her to the hallway because another patient needed that room. Once we were in the hallway, Dr. Mueller came by after about 15 minutes and spent roughly three minutes asking us questions and checking her breathing and heart rate. Once she did the quick check, she disappeared, and we did not get any attention for another hour. Once 9:15 rolled around, we finally had enough and asked if we could just leave. We wanted to walk out of an Emergency Room because we believed being there was not only not helping, but just making it all worse. Not only were we given attitude by one of the nurses, but Dr. Mueller spoke to us in a condescending tone. By the time we left, it was around 9:30. Didn’t get helped despite our patience and understanding. I will be contacting administration about this, as I don’t think we should be paying a copay, even though my wife was taken back. She did not receive any treatment. We will never be going back to this ER, even if it’s the closest option.

The appointment went quickly and efficiently. Check in was easy and the wait time was short. Definitely would recommend.

Most Edward Elmhurst physicians no longer take Illinicare
It depends , but usually 48 hours
I have no idea. Don’t even know what that is
We perform elastography for liver ultrasound scans.
It should be a close relative or caregiver. If she is able to write, then she can write down who can care for her. But, if she isn't able to write, then whomever is wanting to care for her can state the responsibility of care for her with the hospital. There's also advocates you can speak to if you want to make decisions. I hope this helps.

No, outpatient is by schedule only. It's called "outpatient" because you come in and then leave, as opposed to "inpatient" procedures etc where you are actually checked into the hospital for a period of time.
