Absolutely gorgeous, 5 star review if you don't need Internet access for work. If you DO, then it's a 3 star review. The download speed is very good (20Mbps) but the upload is atrocious (.1Mbps) and only with Verizon, so meetings and videos will not work. Att and T-Mobile don't work at all. The water and scenery is gorgeous and the A10 Thunderbolts flying overhead while you float lend an otherworldly tint to the experience. Enjoy 😁

It was great being back at a place where some of my best childhood memories were made! I practically grew up camping at TRL when I was a kid. The property has changed owners a few times over the years and these current owners keep the property in excellent shape all while keeping the nostalgia there too. Almost nothing has changed about this campground since the last time I was there in the early 90s and it was a traditional family camping trip every year before that. Now, my wife and boys got to experience an amazing campground and take a tube float trip on one of the best rivers in Missouri! As I said, the campground is in excellent shape, overall clean (as clean as you can expect from a campground anyway), friendly employees who want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time, great owners and very reasonable rates. I just wish they would bring back the GAME BARN! This is the biggest building on the property and it is right next to the playground. Several years ago, it was turned into an event center in hopes they would attract destination weddings. Well, it's a building that was sitting dark, unused, and depressing this weekend. I'm not even sure how often it gets used any more if at all. Once upon a time, it had no less than 30 classic video games including a sit-down Pole Position II game! Back in 2008, it was in its demise with just a few games inside. It was once definitely the place to hang out in the evenings after dinner! On our Saturday, we arranged a tube rental for a 5-mile float on the Black River. The employees were very easy to work with, they got us the right life jackets for my two younger boys, and loaned us some rope so we could tie tubes together and keep our floating drink cooler with us too. It was an awesome float and the bus was right there waiting at the "smiley face" at the take-out point. I strongly recommend coming here DURING THE WEEK specifically Monday through Thursday. It is far less crowded and much more relaxing. The weekend campers tend to get very rowdy, loud, obnoxious and have next to nothing for consideration of other campers. Quiet time is 11pm SHARP. They do let you know this on check in and you are expected to follow that expectation. There was a huge group that had many sites just a few down from us. They were having parties well after 11pm and being everything that I describe about weekend campers. Both nights, I called the on-site security guard and he did come. First night, this group quieted down just after 11pm, but picked it right back up again with thinking they were the only ones in the whole place not long after and wouldn't shut up until they were passed out drunk around 1:30am. Second night, they were at it again. I called security around 10:30 in hopes they could get a head start on quieting down. He showed up to give them a 30 minute count down. 11pm came and went and it was after the second call at 11:30 that security finally came and laid down the law and they were mostly quiet after that. I'm surprised this group wasn't booted out after the first call on the second night given that they were called the first night. They were quite possibly the worst people we have ever camped with...and we weren't even with them! So aside of two mostly sleepless nights due to loud, obnoxious, rude, and inconsiderate campers, we absolutely loved being there. This place will always be near and dear to me and I'm glad my wife and boys got to experience just a taste of what our 5 nights of camping was like when I came here every year! Next time, we will book 2-3 weeknights only. No more of this "anything goes free for all, screw anyone else" mindset of the age 20-something weekend campers.

Great family oriented place to camp and go down a river. I appreciated their great customer service.

Clean campsite, beautiful river but so many rules to floating here. We had an 8 man raft and were only allowed one 32 quart cooler for six people. That’s not enough room to carry enough food and water for six people planning to be in the sun and on the river for 8 hours. Many people were taking off in their rafts and picking up other group members further down river just to have adequate food and water for their groups which is ridiculous when you are trying to relax and not worry, the whole point of being on a float trip. “Karen” the owner was standing down at put in making sure each group only had one cooler. I get heavy coolers can drag and rip the raft but a 32 quart cooler is way too small for six adults. Also music down at 10 and off at 11. They have a security guard that drives around and strictly enforces this. You can’t keep your music on even on low. The bathrooms were clean. Great for family’s but not a group of people wanting to have fun. We weren’t trying to be rambunctious just listen to the music on low around the fire and the security guard came by several times making sure we didn’t turn it back on (which we hadn’t) Campsites were nice with a short walk to the river but would’ve been perfect if not so many stressors when you are trying to relax.

We allow golf carts with licensed drivers. However there are nearby areas that permit trail riding.

We allow licensed, insured drivers to use them as a means of transportation to get to the beach and showerhouses to drive them in LOW gear only. We do not have ridding trails and ATV's are not permitted. These are our current guidelines as of today, unfortunately, since we began allowing this, there already have been those who are not following the guidelines and pushing the limit to more requirements or elimination completely.
