Unreliable product with horrible warranty. I purchased a new Fischer Panda (FP) 5K genset 4 years ago and was very pleased with it despite needing to constantly replace the Starter Motor Relay. The genset is very quiet, powerful, and efficient but fuel consumption is higher than advertised. I run it 24/7 when I take long summer trips to Bahamas or just for a couple of hours if I just go to the sandbar. The control panel corroded within the first 9 months just form ocationally touching it with wet hands. Nothing marine about it but I had to pay full price for a new one. At around 2.5 years old, the generator back end broke. FP insisted it that the back end does not just break out of thin air but this was the case. Despite the 5 year warranty, the repair costed me around $4500. It was $2500 for the part and the rest on labor. Exactly 13 months later the back end is broken again. This is the same part that supposedly never breaks. When the back end was replaced previously, it came with a 90 day warranty which voids or shortens the 5 year warranty of the generator so this time around the repair is around $6000 for the $4400 part and the labor. This means that if you buy a new generator with 5 year warranty and a major part breaks in the first 6 months, your 5 year warranty is now just 90 days for that major part. I've never heard of such horrible policy. This is made so much worse by a poor quality product tha breaks all the time. I'm really looking forward for Inverter technoloy and Li-Ion batteries to eliminate the consumer demand for generators. These companies with bad product and bad customer focus will have to adapt and improve on all fronts to survive. I would be afraid to run this generator again after it is repaired as I am risking another expensive repair. I will sell this unit as soon as it is up and runing again and never consider Fischer Panda again

Am the owner of a 2018 FP Mini 8. Getting tech support was slow but they finally got me taken care of. Looks like FP needs to get their tech support team some help. Probably got a problem finding qualified folks willing to work like so many others in the business community.

Sadly have to update this review. I have had two FP generators die in the past 6 years. At a cost of over $25,000. Generator number one (1000h) died due to a blown exhaust elbow. I figured that that kinda stuff can happen and is not the fault of FP. Despite their terrible reputation in the boating world, I opted for a new FP gen. Frankly because it was the easiest way to replace the old one. Second gen died at (600h I think) do to water intrusion. It is under warranty No one can explain where the water came from. One tech blamed it on the installation while admitting the Pursuit does an excellent job with installs. Water intrusion isn’t covered under their warranty and they offered to repair it for $9000 so that I could get my full 5 year warranty back!!!! THE GENERATOR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY NOW!!!! I was told that they would email me photos of the water damage. Weeks later still waiting. Typically have to call 3 or 4 times to get someone to call me back. FP is a joke. I will never put one in my boat again and when I buy a new boat, if it has an FP generator I will pull it and replace it. If I ran my business the way they do, I would be broke. Jarvis was awesome. Thanks for taking the time to help.

I have the 4KW unit. The voltage starts at 120V but increases up to 135 to 138V. Local tech "Blue Water" is too busy as is "Yacht Power". How should I troubleshoot this??? Jack

Jeff Till | Oct 5, 2019

The 4kw uses a spring loaded governor so it will start higher the 120v and drop down as you add load. Call our office and ask for service. They will want to know your no load voltage and frequency. 954 462 2800

I have a PMS 6000 ND boat generator. It is a kabota engine. The starter relay went out. What is the cost of a replacement. Or... can it use a normal starter relay that I can pick up at the auto shop? Many Thanks Mike

I use to do business with these people. They use to have an extremely helpful lady there, I believe her name was “marina”. Is she still there? If so I would recommend more clients to this company.
