We thought that it was going to be better but it was ok. We sat at the bar, and my wife's lobster roll was not so good. I had a steak which was good. Overall, it was ok, but based on the ratings I was expecting to be blown away. It appears that they have loyal clientele that has been going there for quite some time. Reservations are required

My wife and I were looking for a nice place for a date night, which we do not get often as we have 2 young children. We were seated at our table and were immediately greeted by flies. Our waiter arrived and was very nice. We order the crab dip as an appetizer. The dish reminded me of something you could purchase at the grocery store frozen food section and heat at home and did not have much flavor. The seafood di mare was also flavorless with gritty mussels and clams and tiny shrimp. The sauce was watered down tomato sauce. For the price we would have expected shrimp of decent size. The shrimp/scallop with lobster risotto was nothing special. While the scallops and shrimp were cooked well, the risotto was overly creamy and consisted of absolutely zero lobster. While we tried to eat our meals we had to fight off the attack of fruit flies with every bite. Even the beer I ordered was not safe from the attack. When we were given our check it was accompanied with a snack box of candies, which had candies that were open and coming out of there wrappers. For the price of what we paid, the meal and experience was absolutely horrible and we would have expected better.

The ambience and the overall experience is amazing at the Marblehead chowder house!! From the foyer to the servers everything was perfect. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Appetizer sampler was delicious. One in our party had the Baked Shrimp Carbonaro which he was very happy with. Two in our party had fried items and the breading was very heavy. I had crab stuffed shrimp and while it was good it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. We were not given a choice of seating and were seated in the bar. When I go to a restaurant to eat, I want to sit in the restaurant. All four people in our party agreed that if we ever went back, we'd stick to appetizers
