Not a member and we parked just outside using the park's street parking along main road. Well organized children museum with lots of theme. Great details in each room, our kids loved the events offered every hour or so.
They do actually , they open the museum ealier for children with autism.. you should call for times , i dont really remeber what is the specific time they open.
I think the Please Touch Museum would be great for your little man. Here is a link with some more information https://www.pleasetouchmuseum.org/accessibility/
We were there about three weeks ago and they charged us 5$ per child for the ferris wheel but the adults are free. If you have a season pass it's totally free and you get discounts on your gift or food purchases. Hope this helps you. GOD bless.
Imo 11 is a bit on the old side. If going as a family with younger siblings he can help them enjoy and might like some things, but I wouldn't go specifically for a child that age as they will get bored.
I know that when I worked there if you let them know they would tell you where to go and and ask if you can go to a meeting room or lunch room. If your child gets overwhelmed. I don't know what they do now but I would go with this info to ask them
I just went there last week, and they now charge for all children older than 1. Only children under 1 are free. Everyone between 1-65 costs $19. Above 65 is also free.

It's usually the 1st Wednesday of every month from 4-7pm $2
Wednesday February 16,2022 it's an extra First Wednesday because of Black History Month
Yes, but with a few suggestions:
1. Go at opening.
The crowds are much smaller and the child will have more access to toys/activities to try.
2. If they are okay with masks.
The museum is really big on children over 2 wearing masks. My son is 2 and a half and they asked me to mask him. He was actually okay with it though. He took it off a few times and nobody bothered us, but they do want the effort made.
3. There is a big "through the looking glass" display full of activities. It is very impressive but there are varying levels of low light, life size characters, a maze, mirror wall, and a forced perspective room that makes children feel like the room gets smaller as you go in. It's a really great display, but some of this can make some children nervous.
There are many great activities, so check online for art classes and other demonstrations.
Have a great time!!
Yes! We purchased individual tickets, and eventually our 1 year membership totally online. Then you just show your tickets on your phone when you arrive and pick up membership cards at the desk.
"Active duty personnel with valid ID receive 6 free admissions from Memorial Day through Labor Day and $2 off per ticket (up to four tickets) for the rest of the year. Veterans receive $2 off per ticket (up to four tickets) at anytime."
There are rooms for pretend play like hospital, grocery store, kitchen, school, lots of vehicles to climb into and try everything in them. There's water play, mazes, giant blocks etc . My 3 year old didn't want to leave after 4 hrs there.
The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) ACCESS card is blue and green in color with the word “ACCESS” printed in yellow letters. This card is issued to MA recipients who receive cash assistance and/or food stamps as well as medical services, if eligible.
Does anyone know if members can bring guests to the member early mornings?

Maybe. Heard from 2 different moms that they had completely different stories. 1 mom brought a guest to members only, and was fine, the other said that she was told the guest wouldn't be able to attend until the normal opening hours thereafter
Tickets
Members and children under age 1: Free
Adults and children 1 and older: $19
Carousel Rides: 1 ride for $3 or unlimited for $5
First Wednesday nights of each month, 4 to 7 p.m.: only: $2
Parking is not free..the museum has a parking lot which is 12 dollars if you are not a member. If you are a member then it will be free.. there is street parking in front of the museum and across where the soccer field is, but you will inly get lucky with that of you arrive early in the morning.
Birth to maybe seven or eight years of age. Older siblin up to about ten years old will be entertained by many of the areas. My grandsons range in age from two to ten and leaving is always a problem no matter how long we've been there. The older one engages with the younger ones and doesn't appear to feel awkward. There are special areas for the under three crowd with a height and age restriction so the big kids don't run over them. You will also find a few areas of interest for the grown-ups. There's a small cafe area and a gift shop, too.
An access card is like an atm/debit/Mac card. If you receive TANF (cash) or SNAP (food stamps) benefits from the government you have an access card. It's used to make purchases. Many museums in the Philadelphia area allow up to four paid admissions with your card. Each person would pay $2.00. So you and three others can enjoy a visit for a total of $8.00. The person who's name is on the card must be with you and will be asked to show I.D. It's an amazing program designed to support, encourage and make it possible for low income people to enjoy some of the best parts of Philadelphia (Philly) and it's surrounding area. Spread the word!
This is what i found on the museum s website.
" This iconic carousel, originally located in Philadelphia’s Woodside Park, was crafted in 1908 by the Dentzel Carousel Company, and after more than 40 years in storage, returns to its hometown bringing joy to new generations in its own 9,000 square-foot glass pavilion on the east side of Memorial Hall."
They have some toddler sections where he'll might like to play. Just keep a lookout for any small things he doesn't try to put in mouth. We went with our 2 year old daughter. Otherwise, it's a good place for everyone to see and explore. There are some pictures online that show some areas of the museum. Hope this helps.
