One of my favorite places in the city to go on a short hike and mushroom hunt. I recommend it to anyone looking for some relaxing tree bathing within the city.

Nice, clean cut grass for dogs and kids to play. Cost $23 for 3hrs. Only thing is we had to bring our own grill but it still turned out very nice.

Sept 11: it's great except there is a large hornets nest hanging about 8' up from one of the three large trees in the middle of the field

The Valley Green Inn is much nicer. A flat easily accessible area with parking. Includes an Historic Inn, the Wissahickon Creek and plenty of ducks and geese. Trails are more suited to people dressed in formal wear!
They also have porta potties during the non winter months.because Philadelphia University has their baseball practices there.
I called the park's department and it's illegal to keep dogs off leash at that park as well as all other Philly public parks unoess there's a dog section so I will keep dogs on leash there.
Yes there are a couple near the picnic benches
You can reserve a table with the park service
