Hello, my name is John L. I’ve been to all three Sunrise Detox locations in NJ. Stirling is by far the best when being compared to Tom’s River or Cherry Hill. The staff at the Stirling location are very accommodating and approachable. I’ve been to Sunrise Detox (all three locations) a total of 13 times in the passed 7 years. My most recent experience I actually escaped from the facility twice in three days. They let me come back the first time, the second time I decided not to stay. This had nothing to do with Sunrise, I just had a job interview lined up that I could not miss. But I would recommend Sunrise Detox in Stirling above any other facility in NJ. I’ve been to state-funded places like Merryville, New Hope, Discovery, Integrity House. All of the aforementioned facilities are not even in the same tier as Sunrise. Other detoxes treat people like cattle, they just shuffle them in and out, not a care in the world. When I was at Bergen Regional Detox the nurse literally forgot to give me my me my detox medication and no one checked in on me for 16 hours. That would NEVER happen at Sunrise. The food is great, the beds are comfy, you can smoke throughout the day, you get to see a counselor every day. (Most facilities you see a counselor maybe once or twice every couple of weeks) The staff, nurses, and counselors actually CARE about the patients in Sunrise. They WANT you to get better, which in my humble opinion, is quite rare within the recovery industry. I overdosed in 2015 in the parking lot at Sunrise Stirling, a tech ran outside and Narcanned me. He literally saved my life. Sunrise at Stirling really is incomparable to other facilities. If you need help, I urge you to come to the Stirling Sunrise Detox Location.

Do not go There!! It went so down hill!! Terrible!! I was there last winter there was no heat! I was so cold and so very uncomfortable! It’s good if you smoke a lot. There was a time when they had great employees! John oversaw everything he was great and so caring, there was a great male nurse and others , they are not there! Food is yuk, not the cooks fault! I saw an older women who fell out of bed crying in pain on the floor and no one helped her!!!!!!! I told them !!!!! Nothing! BUT… it’s a place it was great at one time. Thank god I am sober and don’t need that! Detox ! They need to replace a nurse the big fat one! She prolonged giving me detox medicine because she said “ you talked bad about me so I didn’t give you the Adavan for a long time! I tried to talk to the counselor about it. It’s a bussiness and like cattle I was pushed along. One big thing I forgot to say is I have COPD and brought my own nebulizer and medicine, they would not let me use it!! And to top it the nurse reported to my insurance company that I was abusing my inhaler ( Albuterol) insanity! My primary doctor and blue cross thought this was crazy and abuse! They tried to keep me from holding my rescue inhaler. But if you need to detox please go do it! Anywhere even here

You can make phone calls with the phone card that they sell in the vending machine for $10 also your counselor will let you make phone calls you will only get your cell phone if you have a private room and pay extra I think it's like 500 extra cash a night
