I've spent many an hour studying in libraries but after my last experience getting a study room here I'm not sure I'll be back to this library anytime soon. I'll definitely never ask for a study room again. The man at the desk upstairs seemed to adopt the attitude of a prison warden when I asked for a room, but I filled out the little sign-in sheet and was halfway to the room when he called out to me and beckoned me back with his finger as if I were a small schoolchild. He then asked if I had gotten a study room recently. A little puzzled at the interrogation tone, I said within the last year or so. He informed me that "the rules had changed" and handed me a sheet of mostly needless-to-say things. (Just post the rules in the rooms themselves if you feel like they need to be seen, or better yet don't bother someone until they're actually in violation of a rule.) The experience was so unnecessarily unpleasant I couldn't think about my work for 5 minutes after I sat down. I don't think I was dressed so badly.... I've had good experiences at this library otherwise.

We just moved to the area and were so excited to get our cards. We are big fans of supporting the local library and we're more than willing to become donors. Upon arriving we were told that despite an offer letter and lease proof, because my husband's job didn't start for two more days we couldn't get cards. My two young children left with tears because your employees lacked basic human compassion and reasoning. Just a shame.

Just about everything you might need at a library. Great books, videos, internet and computer needs.. Awesome staff...
Thank you for your question. AARP Tax-Aide is not preparing taxes at the library this year due to pandemic related occupancy restrictions at the library. They are providing service by appointment at another site. Contact information for Tax-Aide and and other free tax preparation services are as follows: AARP Tax-Aide 843-638-7482 (you will reach a recording, someone will contact you at the number you leave) United Way – VITA Program Appointments Only 843-662-2407 www.uwflorence.org SCThrive Virtual Appointments 803-726-8774 www.scthrive.org FMU School of Business 843-661-1427
AARP Tax-Aide, which has provided free preparation services at the library for many years, will not be doing so at the library this year due to COVID related occupancy restrictions adopted at the main library. Contact/venue information is not yet available for Tax-Aide’s local service this year, but as soon as it is, we will make that available. In the meantime, the following organizations are offering free tax services (subject to limitations) by appointment only: SCThrive (803-726-8774) FMU School of Business (843-661-1427) United Way VITA program (843-662-2407) We also have a limited selection of federal tax booklets and forms in our main lobby (mask covering nose and mouth, and temperature check required for entry).
Thank you for your question. Our library buildings are currently closed to the public, but we are answering phone inquiries between 9:00 and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, the Main Library offers holds pickup at the front door for Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To get your books and other materials: Search the library catalog at http://www.florencelibrary.org and place a hold on the item you want. If you don’t have internet access, call during business hours to request an item. Wait for the email or text notification that your item is ready for pickup. Visit the library between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to pick up your items. Don’t forget your library card! We look forward to seeing our customers at the library again! Thank you for your patience as we work to resume operations while keeping staff and library users safe. If you have questions, check our FAQ, contact us on social media, or call between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer copying or printing in this phase of our operations. Right now we are opening our outer lobby for holds pickup only from 10-3 Monday through Friday. We hope to expand our service in future phases as soon as it is safe to do so. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the current crisis.
As long as you have your state issued ID, the librarians will pull up your number for you. No fuss, no mess!
It should be the last 4 digits of your card number.
If you call the main number it will give you all the info, including times/dates/instructions for tax prep
Not at all sure,...however most of the patrons are already. Aware of the hours, all new patrons could simply Google the hours,.. I would like to personally apologize to you for any inconvience.,it's actually a very nice little library and I hope you will come back to take advantage of all that it has to offer..
I'm not sure about on line.... But, I called a few times in the past a renewed via phone... I hope this helps
I never seen one there for public use.... Maybe they have one in the back for staff for upkeep of the DVD& CD's ....
Yes, it's on the 2nd floor. Make sure you bring some quarters with you. If I remember correctly, it costs two to three dollars to send a fax. There's a reference desk close by and the staff can answer any further questions you may have.
Currently you have to come in person to get a library card.
Florence county residents pay nothing for a library card.
Only if you wish to check out a book.
Check their Facebook. They keep it updated with any holiday closings.
You'll have to call or visit the library.
The box is to the south of the building in a drive through area in the parking lot.
Yes with a library card, otherwise there is a small charge per page.
