Working with the Glass Doctor of Nashville was a breeze. Sean came out to provide an estimate quickly and replaced the window glass within a few weeks (with the glass shortage this was unexpected). Thanks for your help!

Glass Doctor is wonderful! I highly recommend them time & time again because of their efficiency, professionalism and pricing. I called Daniel for a job to be done within 3 days and he managed to get Tom to do the job on the same day. Daniel and Tom just went above and beyond all of my expectations, with the great customer service and speed.

Questions & Answers

Can you buff scratches out of glass?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022

Scratch removal in residential glass and light commercial applications is not a commercially viable solution. Basically, it is labor-intensive and not very successful. Furthermore, if the customer is not satisfied with the result, they are understandably not willing to pay for the time and materials invested by the glass company. Scratch removal and scratch buffing systems exist; however, they are typically only practical in warehouses, industrial, and on larger commercial glass projects. Please call our Glass Doctor office if you would like a more detailed explanation.

Only the bottom section of my window is broken. Do you have to change the entire sash, or can you just change the glass in my frame?

We specialize in glass replacement. We can, in most cases, remove the glass from the frame and install new glass. Your existing window sash will remain.

How do I know if my glass is a tempered safety glass?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022

If you use steam to fog the glass, you will see a tempered logo in one of the corners that shows the glass is safety glass. There are code requirements for safety glass as well. Consult with your local Glass Doctor for those requirements.

We are remodeling our bathroom and would like our existing mirror cut down to a smaller size. Can you do that?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022

Most likely. However, if the mirror is glued to the wall, there is no guarantee that it can be taken down without breaking. If you can get the existing mirror off the wall, we will need the mirror brought to our shop to cut down. There is no guarantee that the mirror will cut without breaking either. We cannot be responsible if a piece of glass or mirror that belongs to a customer breaks when trying to cut it, but we always do our best to cut carefully.

Can you replace just one pane on a window?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022
Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 5, 2022

No. Each double or triple pane window is manufactured in a quality-controlled environment and sealed carefully to keep air or gas trapped between the panes. As more and more windows include a heat reflective low-emissivity (Low-E) surface inside the unit, these become irreparable once moisture oxidizes the material, leaving a discolored, moldy appearance inside the unit. Even without a Low-E surface, the water staining that occurs from condensing and evaporating over and over leaves a hazy film on the glass that cannot ever be cleaned to perfection.
