May we all remember these heroes who fought for the freedom and liberty of the people of this great country. Let's remember and honor this country's good and noble purposes ordained in Godly faith from the Declaration of Independence thru the Gettysburg address memorialized at this cemetery.

Chalmette National Cemetery is one of the most unique National Cemeteries I have ever visited. Not quite 100 Yards wide and 1,000 yards long there are 12 ranks of graves on either side of the single road the bisects the cemetery. The cemetery contains over 15,000 Americans, 6,773 unknown, veterans of every war between 1812 to Viet Nam, including one who fought in the Battle of Chalmette.al Cemetery

GTN Recommended - This beautiful and peaceful cemetery holds the memory of hundreds of American, British, and Native troops primarily from the battle of Chalmette, and a few other military battles since. It is a lovely spot to pause and reflect, and to be grateful for the sacrifices of so many that we all benefit from.

I have been to the Chalmette Monument and the House next door. I came here on a Veteran's day to pay tribute to the fallen. This cemetery is extremely old and very well taken care of. There were other people putting down remembrances as well. Very calm, quiet and peaceful.

Andrew Jackson, who "took a little trip down the Missisip" Mississippi River to others; and he defeated the British 2 weeks after the Peace Treaty had been signed.
