Fun short hike. Trail was nice and clear of snow/ice.

Bessie is forgotten about and overshadowed by the overwhelming amount of other places in the area. HOWEVER ... hands down, Bessie Butte is an underrated "butte"-ey we have here in central Oregon! What I love most about Bessie is she's easily accessible from Bend ... (less than 15 minutes from the south end of town). From the trailhead it's a nice, 35-40 minute workout hike to an outstanding view at the top. Perfect for the doggo and absolutely stunning during the morning. During Inclement weather she is also very photogenic from the bottom looking south from China Hat Road. A five-star, hidden gem.

Short hike, great views, never crowded.

It's a nice 1 mile hike up to the top. Great views when there are no low clouds. Bring clamp-ons during the snow as it is very slippery.

Looks like a beautiful town. Any “dog” people?

Was named friendliest dog town in the US once if I'm not mistaken. So yes, LOTS of dog people.
