This message is for the manufacturing staff. I sincerely appreciate the fire extinguisher. It worked exactly as intended, when I needed it most. PS: sorry for the christmas gift wrapped return some years ago

I tried posting this on the Kidde website on September 2, 2022 but they wouldn't approve it. I wonder why. Censorship of reviews is a problem. I hope Kidde takes this more seriously than my experience with them right now!! Kidde needs to address what appears to be a widespread problem when you see this many negative reviews all for the same problem. In April of 2021 my wife and I along with two small children (3 & 5 old) were fortunate enough to move into our brand-new house. In February of 2022 we had our first false fire alarm in the middle of the night and chalked it up to fluke incident. When I say false alarm, I’m talking about the fire alarm activating with several loud beeps followed by “FIRE, FIRE, FIRE” several times and repeated until the alarm stopped activating on its own. The interconnection between the fire alarms triggers all the alarms to activate should one of the alarms detect smoke or carbon monoxide. The false alarm in February activated all 7 alarms simultaneously as designed but scared the daylights out of my kids, my wife and me too. I did not change the batteries in the smoke alarms at this time since I am a strong advocate of changing the batteries twice in the smoke alarms every year and use the fall and springtime time changes as a reminder and had just changed the batteries during the fall time change and was confident the batteries were still good. When this false alarm occurred, I did not have to disconnect the fire alarm to stop the activation, it stopped on its own and the alarm light returned to the normal green color. FYI, the 7 fire alarms installed in our house are Kidde Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Model KN-COSM-IBA. This model of fire alarm is hardwired to the house electrical system, interconnected, and has 2 AA backup batteries per fire alarm. In March 2022 I changed the batteries in all 7 smoke alarms like I always do. A couple weeks ago we had one of the fire alarms falsely activate again around 11:30 pm but stopped before I could address the issue in my half-awake half-asleep panicked state and decided not to do anything further until the morning after checking the entire house and not finding any issues. At the time the indicator light on this alarm was solid green and not flashing leading me to believe the alarm was in a normal state. I’m beginning to wonder if this is another fluke incident or a problem with the operation and function of the smoke alarms. The next morning I changed the batteries in this smoke alarm out of an abundance of caution and have not had any more issues with it since, but….. Over the last 2 weeks we have now had 3 different smoke alarms chirp 7 different times and 3 false alarms including the 1 mentioned above, the latest was just this morning at 1:25 am. I am sick and tire of these smoke alarms falsely activating and chirping! This morning I was able to get in contact with Kidde and told them what was going on and they said they would send me 3 new smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to replace these units which appear to be defective. The Kidde employee advised me that it would take 10 to 15 days or maybe longer to get the new alarms shipped to me!? When I asked this employee what I should do for the next 15 days or longer until the new alarms arrive, I was advised by the Kidde employee to disconnect the troublesome alarms from the house power and remove the batteries!!!!??? Not recommended folks! I asked the employee what happens if I have a fire or carbon monoxide issue in the areas of the house where these fire and carbon monoxide alarms have been removed and the employee told be that the other alarms would alert us. Wrong answer! 2 of these locations are in bedrooms and we shut the doors at night, what happens if there is a fire or carbon monoxide issue in these bedrooms without alarms…. this could mean someone dies and this is not acceptable to me. FYI, I have been a fire fighter for over 23 years, a fire inspector and investigator for over 15 years, a degree in fire prevention and certifications.

I work with a company that maintains smoke alarms, and our locality does not accept the smoke alarms with the radioactive element in them. When reaching out to try to return them to the company, I was told they only accepted them from individuals and not businesses. When I asked where I could properly dispose of them, they told me to just search the internet. I'd be willing to pay a fee to dispose of them as I realize business will likely have more to dispose than individuals, but to not even take responsibility for your product end of life disposal is just shameful.

Bought a fire alarm from Kitty that had a 10-year battery it was purchased on November 5th of 19. And today's May 25th 2022 and it's chirping that it's at the end of life. Have tried to reach out to the corporation without success
