I am visiting for from California to see my son & spending some time playing golf. We picked Royal Lakes from a recommendation from a playing partner earlier in the week. The area as you drive into the club complex is beautiful with stately houses and manicured properties surrounding the course as you play. The view of these homes makes for a great day no matter how your golf game is working out. I will breakdown my overall experience of Royal Lakes by segmenting each area. 5 - Clubhouse, staff, practice areas. Clubhouse was excellent, staff friendly and you had ample room on practice greens and tees. 3 - Overall course conditions. Being from California, I am not as familiar to what protocols Georgia courses take after the summer season is completed to get the course ready for fall & winter play. We played at the end of September. Tees we’re rock hard and it prevented you from teeing your ball with the plastic tees provided by the club. You had to revert to using a wood tee. Fairways were firm not allowing you to take a normal divot on many shots. Greens were very bad. Almost every green had areas of patchy, barren grass which caused you to move your ball because it was unplayable. Sand traps were not properly maintained. They were not machine raked by course groundskeepers nor were they re-raked by playing guests after completing their shot. Cart paths had many bumpy and broken asphalt areas due to excessive tree root intrusion. Golf carts were clean and the club provided bottled water & tees. Overall I had a pleasant experience playing Royal Lakes. The facilities are good and you never get tired of the vistas and beautiful homes you see throughout your round. I would play Royal Lakes again, maybe at a different time of the year when the course would be in better condition. Would I recommend playing Royal Lakes, yes I would.

Forced to spend $60 every quarter because the club is poorly managed and they will take advantage of the residents. Food was not hot and did not taste well. Pool slide is broken again! Why do we pay an extra $1300 for every year. Thanks POA.

I would call Homeowners association. If you don't already own I would get a buyer's real estate agent and get them to find out.
The owner has appeared before the Oakwood City Council twice asking them to annex the golf course. If approved, this allows him to connect to the sewer behind Kroger and build town homes...somewhere. Since the golf course is reported to be losing money, he wants to make money. It is then possible, the golf course may find town homes built there. On the other hand, a group could buy the golf course for $5 million and prevent the building of town homes anywhere in Royal Lakes.
Good course, friendly staff, conditions are/were good, nice driving range.
