The Community Assistance Center is an amazing not-for-profit that provides emergency assistance and prevents homeless in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. The CAC helps with rent and utilities and runs three grocery-store like food pantries, has a thrift shop (where I bought my dining room table and chairs) which also provides clothes and household items to clients and offers many other programs such as English, Budgeting and computer classes, back-to-school supplies, Holiday gifts and more. I’ve been very involved for 20+ years on the acquisition team for the auction at the gala annual Vintage Affair. I give so much of my time because I have seen first hand and heard many stories about how the CAC changes lives. One of my favorite things is when clients who the CAC have helped return to financial self-sufficiency become donors to the CAC. Many people think that Sandy Springs and Dunwoody are wealthy communities, which they are. Also, poverty exists - all of the elementary schools except Heards Ferry, both middle schools and North Springs are Title I Schools (I believe the definition is schools where 60% of the kids receive free or reduced lunches). A job loss or a divorce can also thrust even middle class families into a situation where temporary help is needed. I am proud that we have such an incredible life-changing organization like the CAC in our community.

When the office will be open to the public
All set they open today.
It depends on their availability in scheduling appointments and how many volunteers working on any given day. The CAC occasionally has MARTA passes, but it's rare. Those are usually donated.
Appointment hours are between 9 am - 2 pm. Appointments are required for financial assistance. Please call our Helpline (770) 552-4015.
Not sure but believe it goes into August
