I have been bringing my dog to Parkwood since 2013. This is the only team I trust to provide the best care for my best friend!

I inadvertently scheduled my puppies first appointment here, thinking that I was going to Park Animal Hospital. I reluctantly came in, and I am glad that I did. They are kind to my dog Cowboy, and this week when he got an eye infection, that took him in right away. That made me feel a lot better about them, and the vet that took care of him, seemed to really enjoy Cowboy repeatedly licking her face!! Their location is changing, but I think I will leave him there and drive the 2 miles up the road.

I started going to Parkwood Animal Hospital in 2016 as a new pet owner and I've consistently gone to them, even after several moves around the triangle. The vet team is always realistic and honest in giving me diagnoses and recommending care or paths forward. They also always go above and beyond to make my nervous kitties comfortable and in and out of the facility quickly. I trust them completely with my pets and couldn't imagine going anywhere else!

Questions & Answers

My Bulldog puppy just got rabies shot this morning along with two more shots would that make him sleepy and lethargic.

It is not uncommon after the excitement of a visit and vaccines to be sleepy and less active just as a human child would. Signs can last for up to 48 hours, and include a decreased appetite, lethargy, reluctance to walk/run, pain at the injection site (like a tetanus or flu shot for people) or a mild fever. Sometimes there will be a small lump at the injection site which can last for up to a month. There can be more serious reactions, usually after the second or third vaccine, which include: vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, facial swelling, hives and even collapse. Should you note any of these, this is an allergic reaction and is cause for an emergency visit. Luckily, this is fairly uncommon with our modern vaccines.

How much does a consultation cost?

A consultation will depend on what we are examining your pet for at the time. We recommend that you give us a call at 919-544-7711 so that we can discuss your pet's needs in depth and provide you a more exact answer.
