This court system is a joke. They send me a letter stating I have court. I stay two states away. Instead of calling, emailing, or sending a letter telling me they weren't able to serve him.,I wasted a tank of gas, lost a days worth of pay and not to mention the 3 1/2 wait for them to give me that news. Now I have to waste another tank of gas going back home.

DSS has to send the request over to the regional office. Then they have to request a packet of the papers from the court house. Then they have to send that packet to the state he lives. They can only inforce it in the state he lives in.
is there a drop box at the facility where you can drop info if the office is closed?

Call Gastons local law enforcement (I think Gaston is still Lexington County) and request a welfare check. I am not sure the circumstances that allow one to be done or if all you have to do is request one, but a good start would be calling law enforcement and explain that you'd like ask welfare check. Then go from there. I hope this information helps and pray your grandchildren are healthy and safe. ☝❤
