I took my 13 yr old son after hearing about the museum from a coworker who went. They have an amazing display of fossils and crystals that are housed in a historically significant building in Hicksville. We both learned a lot as we toured everything with the knowledgeable gentleman that was there today. Would definitely recommend giving the Gregory Museum a visit.

Great small Natural History Museum. A must for those that enjoy paleontology and minerals .

Rocks, crystals and fossils, oh my! This historical courthouse (with original jail) has been transformed into an amazing display of eye candy for minerologists, paleontologists and geologists alike. Whether you are an aspiring scientist, or just live the wonders of nature, you will be awed by the vast collection on display here. During our visit, we were lucky to meet Don, a very knowledgeable man, passionate in geology, who shared his wealth of knowledge of the great many things in this wonderful place. Come and learn or just be inspired.

I have visited here before and am still amazed at the diverse collection and how well it is presented. Paul was available to give us a wonderful tour. His vast knowledge and personality make the museum experience all the better. Would definitely recommend for all age groups.

Questions & Answers

Is the museum still closed?

I think they plan on opening in September. In their monday podcasts they've stated they are looking for help to dismantle and reshape a cabinet display.

Is it near the railroad. Hicksville started.

Yes, you can see it even from the train just before it pulls into the station. Far end of the parking lot betweeen where the LIRR splits into the North bound route (to farmingdale) and the East bound route (Ronkomkoma). Should be the one with a coupala at the top.
