Really enjoyed visiting the cave! It is a little different from some of the other caves I have visited; you are exploring what is basically an underground chasm, and I was very impressed with the ingenuity of the stair steps and walkway layout designed almost 100 years ago that allowed you to descend to the lowest levels and come back up in the easiest way possible. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and it was easy to tell she really enjoyed her job! After the tour we decided to purchase one of the geodes you can crack open in the very nice, inviting, and interesting gift shop yourself, and she offered tips on good ways to place it in the cracking tool, and we ended up with some beautiful pieces to display! Can't really think of anything negative to say; if you have trouble with stairs, this cave might not be the best, but there was a couple well into their sixties that stayed at the back of the group and took their time and made it just fine, and there was a young mother on our tour with her baby strapped on her chest, and even the baby seemed to be having a great time! A good choice for something to do on a hot summer afternoon!

We've been in a lot of caves and this one is so far, the best! So much activity still. It is just beautiful! Mostly stairs, so be prepared and wear good tennis shoes I would not recommend this for anyone with very small children that will have to be carried. But, exercise wise, this didn't even bother my knees and barely registered on my fitbit.

Fantastic trip, very informative. Wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet and/or muddy. Vertical cave so lots of stairs, but they'll give you a refund if you can't safely go through the cave. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and definitely loved his job.

This cave was amazing!! Beautiful structures throughout. We got to see some salamanders too. Our guide, Kenny, was phenomenal! He was very knowledgeable about the cave itself and the life in the cave. He was also knowledgeable about other …Your compliments of both the cave and our staff is greatly appreciated!! Thanks for choosing to visit us Jennifer!

As a former cave guide I highly recommend Talkin Rocks. Great cave, and the trip's not too hard.
Not for the cave itself as it is what they call a "vertical cave". It is 150 feet deep, so alot of tight stairways down and back up. If you are heading south to get there may I suggest "Fantastic Caverns" in Springfield MO. They are drive through caves that offer guided tours in trams pulled by Jeeps, beautiful cave system.
About an hour I would plan a minimum of an hour and a half to see the other stuff around. Outside of the tour. This is on the short side of it. Also it is wet in the cave so don't wear super nice clothes. Make sure you have one good walking shoes not any kind of dress shoes, sandals, or flip flop. Hope this helps. It's is well worth seeing 😊

No bats in talking rocks cavern. There was pre 1922. before that time there was no building over the entrance and bats flew in and out. This also allowed people to just climb in a break and take formations which cause mr. Powell a great deal to grief. The build was used to protect the cave from further destruction. There is 9 other caves on the property and the vast majority have caves. Hope this gives a small insight to the question.
There's 230 stairs I have asthma too I just took my inhaler when I went down and I was okay
I can't remember I would call them about it.
And it actually scared me cause its narrow in some places and if it had rained some of the natural steps can be slippery also not a good place at all for small children and dont have a baby
Hi there! The store itself is, however the cave has many many narrow stairways with many tight squeezes so unfortunately I'd have to say no :(
I didnt ask. Is not expensive
Yes you can go into the gift shop without taking a tour.
18 dollars each and kid 13
My 13 and 16 year old daughters were fascinated and really enjoyed the lighted show. They'd never seen anything like it so unless your kids have seen this type of thing before they're likely to be impressed. 🙂
When we were there, it was like $10 for kids under 12, $18 for anyone 12.
