Traveling from South Florida. My Cousin wrote me and insisted that I have to stop here on our Road Trip on Historic Route 66. Wow, he was right. I was in my dream land and don’t wake me up. So much to see and history to enjoy. Highly Recommend.

This place is amazing! They have everything you could want if you fish or hunt or…? It’s so much more than a store. The displays throughout have been created with thought and care and an obvious love for the outdoors. There is so much to see you could just go for the fun! The staff are always very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There is always someone nearby if you need help or have a question. And this place is huge!! You can eat at the restaurant there (Hemingway’s) or one of the snack bars inside. I think anyone could find something to like about this place!

Beautiful flagship store that is as big as a mall. The selection in every area is amazing and the displays with large taxidermy animals and living creatures were so incredible. It was very busy when I went but no shortage of helpful staff …Awesome! We're happy you had a legendary experience with us, Katie. See you again soon.

Pretty big location with gun and archery display areas. They have a food stand, I had the the bratwurst which was pretty good with a soft pretzel a frozen lemonade. There is a wait for the food though. The Wonders of Wildlife Aquarium is attached and that was fantastic.
Yes, but please be respectful. The other day my son and I were shopping for some duck decoys to train our dog to fetch water fowl and another customer had their dog on a 15 ft lease and her dog kept jumping on us and climbing on the shelf where we were shopping. This was super annoying!
The aquarium is totally awesome different things of underwater sea creatures from oceans to swamps lakes it took about 4 hours for me to go through it It was well worth it
The aquarium and the historical tour are both open. They are both AMAZING.
Plan on an entire day for this trip. We have averaged about 6 hours each time we have gone for just the aquarium and another two or so hours for the historical side. All in all, totally woth the time and admission fees.
If you plan on going regularly or have a large family, look into the conservation pass. It will pay for itself in no time.
Yes multiple brands and styles to choose from, also try the bass pro outlet first next door for discounted prices before selecting a regular priced pair
I said the same thing, then I went through. The exibit is worth every dime and then some. Its hard to explain without giving it all away but it is so much more than just an aquarium.
Wear your mask, it's required and the employees wear their masks. Wash or disinfect your hands before and after shopping. Use social distancing while in the store. There is a plastic shield at check out.
Bottom line, protect yourself, be safe, get your shots, and we all will be just fine.
Would someone be kind enough to post a picture of the big gas fireplace by the entrance? Was pretty impressed by it when I went through there a year or 2 ago but didn't take a picture then. Thanks!

I would if I had one. I go to Springfield all the time. Next time I'm there I'll snap a pic.
No, it is not. You can see part of an aquarium from the atrium area, but you need to pay to go through the aquarium.

Most places have box breakfast and bags of muffins. Since covid they quit offering buffet style food. Mt. Vernon has buffet breakfast though. It was pretty good
As far as I understand the owner does occasionally purchase antlers/mounts from other people i have never heard of him selling his mounts. But honestly I am not sure if you are after stuffed animals or what you mean.
Boasting nearly 500,000 square-feet of immersive shopping fun, the Grandaddy offers visitors with one of the largest assortments of outdoor gear, apparel and gifts under one roof.
'Ol Johnny doesn't come down off of the mountain much, but you can get the catalogue and then custom order the pair you need. I'm sure you're used to the fact by now that 22's are just not a common size.
Hello,
Is there someone or a number to contact about possibly donating a $50 gift card or small hunting/fishing items for an elementary school carnival? Your consideration is greatly appreciated. Mrs. Melissa Wade
Yes it has a few in there at no charge unless you go next door to Wonders of Wildlife. We spent 3 hours looking through all the museums and aquariums at bass pro alone. Never spent a penny other than food!
Mister King, while there may be vintage and antique poles and lures on display at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World I'm fairly certain that they do not purchase them at the store. I believe that a 3rd party provides them as displays under contract. But there is a new part of the store that has used and antique, rare, one of a kind, or historicaly important guns for sale. Perhaps they will soon also do that with fishing lures and poles. There is a small store across Campbell street from Bass Pro that does buy items like that. I've sold several items there. Good luck
The only thing missing was pictures with descriptions. They have info on some of the fish and animals while it's missing for others. Great place for kids. They can crawl through tunnels and when they stand, they appear to be in the tanks. A storm was coming in while we visited and they said the octopus was more active than usual...
