My wife and I were at Old Kinderhook’s Hearth Room last week when Mike Knapp was playing the piano. We had also seen him play at Dierberg’s Lakeview Terrace a few weeks back. “Playing the piano” really doesn’t convey what Mike does to weave a musical fabric into a venue’s ambience. Through skillful use of accompanying recorded tracks he subtly shifts the focus from himself to the music. Each piece is put in a setting that makes it sparkle. From old standards to show tunes to elevator music to impressive originals, there is something for everybody in his performances. Mike is a true artist and a true professional. Highly recommended!
