Have been at Avon Mills for almost two years now. Loved it until Axel Management took over in July 2021 (please refer to bad reviews from that point forward). They first started out by telling me it would be a 3% rent increase for the new lease period- but then sent me a lease agreement for over 4x more of an increase. When I questioned the difference I was told the "upper management" gave no warning or grace period and rates changed out of nowhere. Then I was sent a list of improvements that were/are in the process of being done. OK I let that slide. side note--it's been over 9 months and the only thing improved has been the door system, the basement (ish) and they've started construction on the new units. New unit construction means 7:30AM wake up calls that last until 4:30PM. I get it, but could you maybe focus on improvements that people living here and paying more can actually enjoy?! The door entrance took all of 3 hours. Thankfully new unit construction was halted since they were working without the right permits. The violation was posted on the main door entrance for weeks. Could have been a nice time to fix the out of order washer on the 3rd floor that was broken for months or maybe fix the tennis courts? Just some ideas. I am sure once the units are done they'll be changing the name of the complex or re-selling it since that's the only explanation I can think of as to why they don't care about our opinions. The only good thing they did was hire the new maintenance manager. She's promptly taken care of any maintenance issues and always shows empathy/compassion. The maintenance staff we had before was nice too before Axel drove them to quit. Anyways I wasn't going to write this review if it weren't for the third/fourth time I was unable to take a shower before work. I emailed the property manager after the first instance requesting that any time there's going to be work done that's plumbing related to notify the tenants. She gave me a passive aggressive response saying they can't predict emergencies. No notification was ever sent acknowledging or apologizing for inconvenience even after the fact. Second, third, fourth time- same thing. Still no email. This is the 4th time it's happened (that I know of) between 2 1/2 weeks AND I was away for a week. What kind of place has this many water related emergencies (all being between 2-4 hours long) without even sending an email to the people living here. Hopefully whatever emergencies taking place were/are related to fixing the scalding hot vs freezing cold water issue. If you like taking warm showers or using water, this isn't the place for you. If you are trying to call anyone in the leasing office, don't. We had a mysterious charge on our lease that started popping up out of nowhere and jumped through hoops for over a month while they told us to hang tight while they looked to "re-fill" the management position. Imagine our surprise when we found out someone had already been hired for 2 weeks and just hadn't been answering the phones or returning phone calls. Also-- that review from 9 months ago is clearly speaking about the management before. Those photos that were included are from current units not the new ones being built. Tennis courts not operational and no one uses the pool since its not maintained. I will leave you with this: If you want to live somewhere that literally doesn't communicate about anything other than to asking tenants for more money, look no further. You've found the right place.

Honestly disturbed by the amount of repetitive complaints about management. Called several times for leasing information and there’s no answer on any lines. My opinion about property management responses to complaints about turning the apartments into luxury homes, if you can’t afford to maintain the lifestyle of current residents during renovation then you aren’t converting to “luxury” apartments. Just because you put in a new door and fresh carpet doesn’t mean luxury, NEW does not mean luxury. The definition of luxury is the state of great comfort and extravagant living. It doesn’t sound like you’re providing a luxury service or community.

Moved out of my home of 5 years because of new management and outrageous price increases all around. Nobody wants "luxury apartments".

My heat has been broken all month and the leasing manager Kristen Lemire couldnt care any less! Prior to the new management company, I never had a problem. Its been a brutal winter and the temp in my apartment has been under 65degrees which is below State of CT requirements for residents who lease. I wake up FREEZING everyday. Even the maintenance manager said my apartment heat was aweful! No reason why I should be using a space heater that I had to buy myself because they cant provide adequate heat. Many attempts to call, NO ANSWER. Sending emails requesting a call back, NO ANSWER OR CALL BACK. All they care about is turning these raggedy apartments into luxury. Cant have a luxury apartment where the heat does not work. Good luck charging the next resident $1600 with no heat. I strongly requested Kristen Lemire’s professionalism in helping me sort this matter out via email but I’m probably not receiving a response because she’s terrible at her job. She’s rude as hell and has no shame in her unprofessionalism. If it wasnt for Jen, the maintenance manager, who has been awesome, I would have taken BIG legal actions against Axela Management due to Kristen Lemire’s lack of care and inconsiderations. Literally all the tenants hate her and I see why now. Overall, dont bother moving into Avon Mill, ive been here since 2020. Very spacious apartments but the leasing manager will make it miserable for you.
