Ordered two orders of fried tamales, 30 minutes later they informed us they only had enough for 1 dish. My wife ordered something else. Food came out cold. Only good thing about this place was the drinks. I like the one farther down on maple atleast they serve the food hot.

I have hesitated to comment on this restaurant because it will not be good. But this keeps popping up for a review so here it goes. I met a friend for dinner at La Mesa with a friend who loves this place. She says her and her family come here a lot. Needless to say I was excited to try this place. We ordered a couple of drinks with our dinner and snacked on chips and salsa while we waited for our meals. The blood orange margarita was good. The chips were stale and cold the salsa was not too bad. I ordered crispy tacos pork and black beans and rice. The shells were stale, the diced pork was dried out, the rice had been on the stove too long. When I took a fork full of rice it came up in sections. Lol The beans were bland. The atmosphere in all honestly was cold. The servers did not seem happy nor glad you were there. There was a group that did walk in and they bent over backwards to make sure they were set up and taken care of. That was nice to see but I didn't see that towards anyone else. It didn't matter all in all but it was just an observation. Don't know if this was an off night or what but they need some cooks/chefs on the kitchen that loves to cook. Needless to say I won't be back.

I ordered steak nachos, pretty simple and easy, however this turned into very unenjoyable experience. 1. Food took over 20 min to get to my table. Understandable if things were busy and/or I ordered a large meal, but not during off time about 2:30 on a Saturday and it was an appetizer. 2. The food was OK, however all the different topping were in their own separate piles on the chips and there was very little cheese (more on that in a second). Yes giant piles of lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. This is not the way nachos should be served and I essentially had to make a giant mess so that I could enjoy all the toppings at once. 3. Given that there was so little cheese on the nachos (something I've never encountered before) I ask for a small side of cheese sauce. It was served to me and was the size of a small dipping sauce, ok fine.... but.... 4. Price. The small little dipping sauce cup cost $3.85. Not only that but somehow my nachos were over $21.00.... I asked about both and my server fixed the cost of the nachos but insisted that she rang up the small side of cheese sauce correctly. Overall not impressed and won't go back there.

We ordered family style tonight for take out. This family style thing is one of the better things to come out of Covid-19. We got 12 chicken enchiladas suiza style(with all the toppings) rice, beans, chips and salsa. It stayed warm for the trip home to Waterloo. Once it got here it didn't last long though. Everyone enjoyed the meal, even my picky eaters 🤣 I hope they keep the family meal deals around forever. We will definitely order this again.
