If you want to live in a place where the fire alarms misfire every time it’s too hot or it rains, then this is the place for you. It seems incredibly unsafe to have the fire alarms go off so frequently that all the residents know that this is a non emergency and the consequence of faulty systems. How are we supposed to know when the threat is real at this point? If you can handle the absurdly frequent fire alarms, the building is fine and the concierges and maintenance crew are incredibly helpful and nice.

No experience with a duplex. Living at the Avalon is fine except for the rents. You get into a series of ten month leases with ever increasing and inequitable, relative to what others in the building are paying, amounts. Watch the rents listed daily on the White Plains Avalon website to understand the policy.
