The good: Staff is friendly and courteous. The course is in very good shape. The greens are slow but roll very nice. The fairways are in very good shape and what you'd expect from a "higher-end" public course. It's a fair and challenging layout. The cost: I played twice and I was charged $36 to walk and the next week $55 to ride (tax not included). I only rode because I played with my dad. This course is a very good deal to walk at $36 because it's flat and so easy to walk. The bad: My main criticism how difficult it is to find out the fees this course charges by visiting their website. Most course you can click once on their "rates" page and get all the details. Here you have to book a tee time just to find out what the green fees cost. The fees for walking aren't posted anywhere on their website, not even when you try to book a tee time. That's a shame because this course is so easy to walk. The website insinuates they offer memberships, but that's misleading because they also don't offer any kind of true membership for weekend players. They're offering a new "Saddle Club Plus Fee" which is a discount program, but it's kind of confusing ($20/month gets you $8 off per round, but the rates include cart, so doesn't apply to walking?). However, many courses are doing away with memberships and walking fees and sticking with public rates only since the public weekend play with carts are what generates the most profit. Sign of the times I guess. I'll stick with walking at Henry Horton and Saddle Creek. I highly recommend Saddle Creek if you are a walker.

The course itself is always in pretty decent shape and is fun to play. However, this course has gotten pretty popular, and I don't think the staff know how to handle the influx of people. Our group did not tee off until 30 minutes after our scheduled tee time due to the fact there were simply no carts available. Saddle Creek needs to better understand their capacity constraints. The staff also seemed frustrated with the number of people at the course, and interacting with them was not a pleasant experience.

Great lay out, super friendly staff and a fun golfing experience! The only reason it wasn’t 5 stars is the greens were just coming back, so they weren’t rolling as true as they probably do later in the year. It was late March and they were a little shaggy… All in all I would play here again in a heartbeat.Mr. Vangalis, Thank you for playing SCGC and providing a review. We aerified February 28th and almost completely recovered. They're good now, but will be great very soon. Come back in a couple weeks and give us the 5 stars ;) Saddle Creek Golf Club
