My dad is hospitalized due to unsafe practices, negligence and mistreatment by the nursing staff at Hamilton Park NH. It’s unfortunate because there are some exceptional, caring and knowledgeable staff there. Richard (OT) and Val (PT) helped my dad from being bed-bound to taking steps with a rolling walker within a month. Lauren (Speech Therapist) helped my dad with speech articulation issues, voice quality concerns and advancing his diet safely. Karol (Wound Care RN) treated his stage II bed sore and made sure his surgical incision site’s skin integrity remained intact. Vicky (Recreational Coordinator) was engaging, caring and attentive. Samantha (Asian Program Facilitator) is only at this location twice a week but she always followed up with a phone call to make sure everything is okay and addressed any concerns we had. As you can see there are some great workers there. Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros especially since the nursing staff are the ones who provide direct resident care throughout the day. My dad was admitted to a dirty room that Nursing Supervisor claimed was “clean” and “housekeeping was there.” She didn’t speak to housekeeping nor check the drawers, closet or bathroom. Peripheral IV catheters with NEEDLES and flushes were found in drawers. Previous resident’s belongings was in the closet. There was used lotion and soiled toilet in the bathroom. These are risks for needle stick injuries and infections. Nursing Supervisor didn’t address the issue. Instead she tried to sweep everything under the rug. Also I came to realize that there is only ONE nursing supervisor for the entire facility. Sometimes there are days where there is no RN on the floor, just LPNs and CNAs. Consistently low blood pressure readings and high finger-sticks (200-400s) weren’t reported and handled properly in a timely manner. Nursing staff and nursing supervisors do not answer calls. No return call after voicemail was left either. Sometimes call bell was placed on the wall where resident couldn’t reach it. Also saw call bell and bed remote coiled tightly around the rail and dangling on the floor. Basically, dad sat in soiled diapers for prolonged periods, over an hour. Sometimes CNA would come in to silence the alarm and say she will return to change him later. Dad wouldn’t eat or drink because it took too long to change his diapers. He ended up having a UTI. Incorrect meals and incomplete meal trays were given to my dad. He’s supposed to be on a diabetic diet but has gotten regular meals and sometimes meal ticket is missing. This contributed to high blood sugars (300-400s) and UTI. Once a CNA fed my dad the wrong meal. If she glanced at the meal ticket, she’d quickly realize it’s for a different resident. My dad was on a purée diet, not a regular one. Risk for choking and aspiration pneumonia. Please do not send any loved ones here. There are serious health and safety concerns that need to be corrected by nursing staff in order for residents to have better health outcomes and lower mortality rate.

This was a terrible experience for both my mother and uncle. If you do not have an aide there or a family member constantly checking up on your loved one, expect nothing. Minimal care, they didn’t even answer the phones during Covid, the admins do nothing and it’s a shame it’s not looked into because it’s a nice building. The rehab is better if you can advocate for yourself but the nursing home area was a disaster for my family members. Local politicians should make this problem a priority.

The staff was kind, compassionate and welcoming. I felt my Dad would get the best care there. I dismiss this review! It was done before I really experienced this facility. At first it seemed great but wished I knew more.
