I just called Carter insurance for a quote on my auto, and was informed that I have to pay a 9 dollar fee to run my DMV report before I could get a quote. I am a disabled single woman and cant just afford to pay additional fees for documents that I have on hand from the dmv and are dated. When I told the lady that I had this information her response was they have to run it themselves, company policy. I have NEVER had to pay ANY other insurance company for a quote. This is robbery and just plain out wrong. Do these people at carter insurance work on commission or what? I could not wrap my head around this. I understand its not alot of money, but it is to a single disabled woman with no other income. The sad part is that many people just pay it without asking why. The lady on the phone didn't even know why. Company policy is all she said. People need to wake up and stop just going along with what a company says.... ask questions, its your money.
