Leopold's is a Savannah staple and as a local, I'm ashamed that I've never been. As I walked downtown and pretended to be a tourist, I decided it was past time that I gave it a try. There was a line when I got there, but I didn't let that stop me. I'm so glad because I was NOT disappointed. They allow you to sample before you buy and I'm glad they did. I opted for 2 scoops or ice scream in a waffle cone; one Signature flavor, Chocolate Chewies Cream and one Specialty flavor, Honey Almond & Cream. The latter was not on my radar AT ALL but I'm glad I took the suggestion of the server to try it. I can't describe its deliciousness, but it's yummy. There are a few more flavors I'd like to try so I can't wait to visit again.

The line is worth the wait! Can you imagine, an ice cream so good, it survived The Great Depression? Since 1919 this ice cream has stood the test of time. Perfectly Creamy, perfect sweetness, perfect aftertaste on the tongue. I had the Rose Petal and Lavender flavors, the rest of the family tried Pistachio, coffee chip, and Socialite. All were delicious! This has moved to our #1 ice cream shoppe as of today ...and we've tried soooo many!

I am told there is typically a huge line here, but there was almost no line when we stopped by! But let me tell you, this ice cream is AMAZING. It’s like no ice cream I’ve ever had before. I got the pistachio and it was out of this world. Extremely rich, but somehow less sweet than pretty much any other ice cream I’ve ever had. I believe them when they say they have never changed their recipe. Spectacular.

This place is so good! The line was long, but it went quickly. There was a lot of selection, and everything I tried was really good. Surprisingly, there was seating inside, and we enjoyed our ice cream indoors because it was pretty cold outside. The classic ice cream shop decor was really fun! I’ll be back at some point!

If you are in a line it does go fast
It has a gummy texture like grocery store ice cream, and they don't list their ingredients, so probably. If looking for a gum free ice cream you're pretty much limited to Harris Teeter All Natural, Turkey Hill All Natural, and Hagen-das.
Thanks for thinking of Leopold’s Ice Cream! We don’t offer any sugar-free ice cream, but we do offer a couple of sugar-free items that are super-tasty. We make a mean Diet Lemonade – fresh squeezed lemons with sparkling or still water. We normally add sugar but can leave it out and let you use either the pink or blue packet to sweeten it. We also have a Greek Yogurt Parfait - All-natural strained Greek yogurt paired with local honey (if they can have honey, pink or blue packet if not) and almonds. Both are yummy and beautiful. They have Ice cream sandwich which is ice cream between cookies which is absolutely delicious 😋 So they could have cookies and cream but can't say that for sure.

Depends on your comfort level. They have labeled nut free ice cream. BUT they have a blanket cross contamination statement, and a shared lines disclosure. Also, they don’t have the ingredients on the barrels (they have to call someone), but they do have a top 8 allergen cheat sheet.

Hi! We do indeed have several lactose free options! We have a Vegan Vanilla and two lactose-free, vegan-friendly sorbets in the shop at all times. Right now we have Lemon and Passionfruit!
