Took my dog to NLAH to see Dr. Bob today. He is very thorough and wonderful with my girl. She was calm and let him do what needed to be done. He has cared for my beloved dogs for almost 20 years now and I have always received excellent care at NLAH. I highly recommend this service.

Both my dogs are patients here. I have sighthounds, and they can be a little bit more complicated than the average dog (ie, when using anesthesia, or average lab values for health markers) because of their body fat ratio and metabolisms. Also, a fit greyhound looks very different than a fit lab or pit. I'm very happy to say that the staff here are familiar with the breed quirks and take great care of my dogs. My greyhound just had her first dental here, and it went flawlessly. The staff love my dogs - and it's mutual. My dogs get excited every time I pull into the parking lot. They know they're about to get loved on. My greyhound hurt herself last year and I have really appreciated that even when I bring in my other dog for a check-up, techs, vets, and even the (sainted) front desk staff ask me how she's doing. She needed a specialist for surgery and rehab, so her injury-specific care hasn't even been at NLAH, and the staff are still just as excited for her recovery as I am. It's really wonderful to receive quality veterinary care from caring, compassionate humans, and I'm grateful NLAH is here to help me keep my dogs healthy.

We brought our dog here since puppyhood, except when we were far out of town (in another country, in fact). He was with us almost 18 years - not a typo, eighteen - when he passed. He overcame many challenges in old age thanks to care given here. Our rescue cats now come here, and I am grateful for the very high standard of care since one has kidney problems. I understand from friends around the country and neighbors that some larger, chain clinics offer cheaper services, but we've also seen them deal with issues that balloon from things that possibly could have been treated earlier. I'd go no place else; it's dedicated and personal here. We have always had help from the staff in submitting forms to our veterinary insurance (side note: options for this are getting better all the time). I'd really recommend to anyone with a new canine or feline family member. M

Questions & Answers

I was referred by a friend to check into getting a payment plan for my dog's care. Can you explain how I can do that?

We do not offer financing, however there are many different avenues to explore such as CARE CREDIT, and others that offer interest free payment periods and the they become like regular credit cards.

Do you have emergency services? Do you except pet insurance (Nation Wide Major medical veterinary insurance).

We refer our Emergencies to one of 3 Referral and Emergency Centers, depending on where you live. There is PET E.R. in Columbia Md, Dog and Cat Veterinary Referral in Bowie and The Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Catonsville. All are staff with Criticalists, not just DVMs, and if the case is serious enough where the pet shouldn't be moved all 3 have Board Certified Specialists from Internal Medicine to Surgery available so your pet doesn't have to be moved. As for Pet Insurance, we will fill out any form you need but you as the owner, send the policy and the bill to the Insurance Company and they reimburse you. You pay us at the point and time of services.
