Dental X-Rays allow the doctor to see many things we can't see with a visual exam alone. For example, it helps us assess address issues related to: tooth decay, bone loss, dental abscesses, and to check on periodontal issues. We always want to provide our patients with the best medical exam and treatment possible. Without a thorough exam and dental x-rays, this is not possible.

Your gums should never bleed from brushing. You could have the onset of periodontal disease. A thorough dental exam would allow our dentist to diagnose and advise you on any needed treatment. The sooner you start treating gum disease the better chance you have of saving your teeth.

Root Canal therapy has come a long way over the years.  Usually the procedure is pain free but if the tooth is severely infected there could be minor discomfort.

Yes, there are several ways to relieve your anxiety.  Dr. Van Dyke can prescribe something for you to take prior to your appointment.  We also offer Nitrous (laughing gas).

Professional teeth whitening is a stronger solution with custom made trays which allows for a much better result. The solution from your dental professional also reaches not only the surface of teeth but deep beneath the surface allowing for a much nicer whitening and longer lasting. You get to touch up when needed. At home whitening strips treat the surface of the tooth and usually only reach the first bicuspid. The solution in whitening strips is not as strong as you will get with your dental professional. Never use abrasive products which can harm the enamel of your teeth.

Yes, we offer Botox and Fillers.  Dr Van Dyke received his certifications for Botox and Filler through The Academy of Dental and Medical Anesthesia.

Yes, you may schedule a cleaning. But first we must get you established with our office. The first appointment will be Dr. Van Dyke, he will do a complete exam, chart all existing restorations, oral cancer screening, check your gums, and take a full set of x-rays. After the exam we schedule you with our hygienist. By getting your exam first our hygienist has a better understanding of the type of cleaning you will need.

Yes, at Island Tower Dentistry we use the most up to date techniques for teeth whitening. Our most popular whitening system is the home tray system. This system allows our patients to whiten at their convenience, and as needed. You may want to consider dental veneers as a way to whiten and get beautiful straight teeth.
