I called in for a tech to come to my house after hurricane Ian came through and my power was restored after 4 days. The tech arrived I put my dogs in a bedroom in case he had to come in and look at the air handler for anything. The tech told me he didn’t need to come inside. After about 10 mins the tech just tells me it’s a bad breaker and the ac is fine. So I call an electrician to come out and the electrician says it’s the ac and asks if the ac tech looked at the air handler which he had never done. After the ELECTRICIAN looked at the air handler we saw it had a burnt fuse and possible bad relay which would have been the AC techs job to find. After contacting this company again the woman on the phone states that the tech said he wasn’t able to get access to the inside which was a bold faced lie because made sure the home was secure for him to enter. I am a Fire/Emt and also state cert home inspector for the tech to lie about access too the home is a slap in the face. I am being given a refund and being told a tech can’t come to my house until Monday even though they messed up and lied. I will be letting the rest of my community know not to use this company along with many others. Not to mention the electrician gave my an ac guy to call and that guy is coming to my house on a Sunday out of his way to look and help fix the problem.

From the moment I called to Sabrina who answer the phone and Shree Who fix my AC are the most professional company I have worked with. If you are needing AC of any kind this company is highly recommended.

Yes, this is normal. A heat pump generally produces air that is 80°, which is considered warm and will heat the house evenly. However, 80° may feel cool to your hand, which is usually closer to 90°.

Is an HVAC system with higher capacity better?

Extra Air Conditioning and Heating | Nov 5, 2021
Extra Air Conditioning and Heating | Nov 5, 2021

In general, no. HVAC systems are the least efficient when first turning on. A system with too much capacity will run in numerous short cycles, turning on and off repeatedly, therefore causing it to be less efficient and increasing energy consumption. Another primary function of an air conditioner is to remove humidity from the air and running shorter cycles doesn’t remove humidity from the air very well.

How do you measure the efficiency of an HVAC system?

Extra Air Conditioning and Heating | Nov 5, 2021

HVAC systems use a metric called S.E.E.R. (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) when assessing efficiency. S.E.E.R. is the amount of cooling your system will deliver per dollar spent on electricity. For example, a 3-ton unit may have a S.E.E.R. efficiency rating of 13, 14, or 15. The higher the S.E.E.R., which ranges from 13 -17, the more efficient the system will be.
