If there is a 10 star rating, Susan Pai would deserve it. I have never worked with anyone who is as professional, responsive and caring about her clients. No matter when you email or text her, Susan always responds without delay. Her knowledge of immigration is immense and it is absolutely terrific to have her as my lawyer. For me personally, hiring another immigration lawyer would be a mistake.

My now-husband found Susan Pai online when he was searching for an immigration lawyer who had an office locally. We were very lucky that he found her. She was our immigration lawyer from the get-go and got us through the long process of getting my conditional green card, permanent green card, and citizenship. We appreciated her honesty and her candor. She guided us through the process of filling out the application forms and collecting (and organizing) the necessary documents for each step we took. She let us know what to anticipate. I especially appreciated the practice sessions she held for us prior to my interviews and the citizenship test. The practice sessions seemed tough but it prepared me for the actual interviews at the USCIS Office. She accompanied me to all the interviews and having her there definitely helped us be calm and confident. It was through Susan’s recommendation that we found a great boutique accounting firm that now does our taxes. We have come to trust Susan’s advice and recommendations so much that when she told us about baby items were important, we took that advice too!

I really appreciate the care with which Susan handled our case. She was always available to Zoom or call or text when we had questions. She knows how to make the process work. We applied at the same time as another couple we know. My wife had her green card in 6 months. The other couple is still waiting for their fingerprints. Susan prepped us for everything and came with us to the interview. We felt so much better having her there with us. It’s obvious she is a well respected lawyer. We felt so much better walking into the interview with her. She told us what we needed to do every step of the way. She’s very precise. Highly recommended. The immigration system is not forgiving. Make sure you have a real ally on your side.

Good question! About two weeks after your submit your I-765, you should receive an I-797 Notice of Action which is the Receipt Notice for your pending I-765. Bring that I-797 to the DMV and they should give you an extension on your Florida Driver's License. You have to have applied for your renewal EAD prior to the expiration of your FDL in order to obtain an emergency extension while your EAD is pending. See the Florida DMV's 2018 full list of acceptable immigration documents here http://www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/aila/AcceptableDocuments.pdf Good luck!

My mom got me a green card 5 years ago. I was in still in school so I stayed in my country but I always came back to the US every year for holiday. I moved here last year. I can get my citizenship now because my green card is over 5 years right?

Hello Jason, thanks for your question. When you apply for your citizenship, USCIS may first consider whether you abandoned your lawful permanent residency while you were living in your home country for four years. See this article on "Non-Abandonment of LPR Status – Continuous Residency" here https://strongvisa.com/green-card-permanent-residence/green-card-means-permanent-residency-abandonment-issues/. Some citizenship applicants in your situation may mistakenly think that once they have been living in the U.S. for five years, they are safe to apply for citizenship because of an odd deficiency in the Form N-400 Part 9. "Time Outside the United States" that asks only for the time you have been out of the U.S. for the five years preceding your application date. In my opinion, you should seek the counsel of a qualified immigration attorney before applying for citizenship so you don't inadvertently lose your green card.
