Many Mexican restaurants are about the same. But the food here is definitely a cut above the rest. Service is always great. And you can't beat the outdoor seating by the pond/fountain

WORST VALUE EVER. My husband and I went and ate with some friends at the Velvet Cactus tonight, and I must say--it has gone completely downhill. There isn't a "fajitas for two" option, so we decided to share the regular order of fajitas. We chose the combo of steak and shrimp, and I could not have been more disappointed. There were FOUR smallish tail-on shrimp on the platter, accompanied by FOUR 4-inch pieces of thinly-sliced seared steak. That's EIGHT pieces of small-sized meat altogether, folks! It comes with four tortillas (seems like four is the magic number when it comes to Velvet Cactus!), so that means my husband and I each got to put one half-sized, thin slice of steak and one shrimp on each fajita that we assembled.. And the price? Brace yourselves... $26.99!!! THIRTY DOLLARS after tax for eight tiny pieces of meat!!!!!!! I've literally never felt so ripped off at a restaurant in my entire life!!! The whole meal is basically grilled vegetables. So if you feel like paying thirty bucks for a couple dollars worth of grilled onion and green pepper rolled up in a tortilla (which they don't even include guacamole on the plates with the fixin's to maybe feel like you have something inside your tortilla), then go ahead and dine at the Velvet Cactus! These are literally the highest-priced fajitas in Baton Rouge, even over Superior (which is a billion times better--and at Superior, your meal comes with a bowl of the best tortilla soup you've ever tasted)!! Not to mention, the refried beans were dry and crusty on top, the rice seemed like something out of a bag of Uncle Ben's, and you could barely taste the alcohol in the $11 margarita. The one and only decent thing about our experience was our awesome server (thanks, Jen!)... I will never in my life go back to this restaurant, and that's really sad because when it first opened a few years ago, everything was really good and I remember really liking it. What a shame! With the economy the way it is, we only get to go out once or twice a month, and I feel so cheated that we wasted it on this. I honestly want my money back! Never again.

Margaritas were great! Very busy, fun atmosphere.

Requested patio, but was sat in the sun, only one table on patio was occupied and 3/4 of the tables were in the shade. The misting fans were on when we arrived but they were turned off 10 minutes after our arrival and in 90+ degrees weather not a good thing. We ordered cheese enchiladas but they were so hard we couldn't cut half of them. The street corn was very burnt and we were never offered a refill on our water. We did tell the waiter about our enchilada problems but he didn't seem to care or even bother to address it. Very disappointing and I use to recommend this place.

I went a couple weeks ago. The staff is wearing face coverings and a large portion of their tables have been removed to create additional space between tables. They have their standard outdoor area as well as an additional makeshift outdoor area.
pretty sure they do but have only dined-in...hard to believe they would no do to-go orders...they are very nice people who go out of their way to be helpful...

We had a party of 7 so I would think 8 isn't an issue. Not sure if the take reservations though.
Are you serious right now? I wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant with a feeling dog across from me. LMAO
