Be advised: The building was forcibly closed, years ago, because of flood waters, during hurricanes. For reasons unknown, there is no fence, or signs warning people to stay away. …

Flood waters claimed the building years ago; and someone eventually leveled the (likely) condemned structure. The vacant lot, however remains unfenced -- with no signs for would-be trespassers. There's enough light to see without the need for a flashlight, thanks to nearby businesses. One can only hope the owners are still the same people who managed the Northline SRO. The land can still be useful to people who have nothing more than a tent (or maybe one of those "tiny houses," your read about, in California). A property owner is the only person who can declare someone a "trespasser;" and property owners cannot be held liable if an unknown trespasser is injured on their property. Here's hoping these property owners never get around to returning any phone calls about possible squatters... Sometimes, the best thing someone can do is absolutely nothing, at all. With lawmakers debating urban camping, people might be looking for a safe place to land. There's strength (and safety) in numbers. Feel free to come by. I'm in the grass hut,, until I figure out a ride back to North Texas. Give a shout, to see if I'm around. If I'm not there, PLEASE, lay down & rest a while. There's probably a jug of water, some kind of prepackaged baked goods, and Mountain Dew in there -- maybe *something* in a can. Help yourself. When I return, I promise I won't be empty-handed; and I'll try not to wake you up if you're asleep.

Flood waters claim to the building a few hurricanes ago; and from what I can tell, they probably had to level everything for liability reasons. Still, the owner didn't post signs, or put up a fence to prevent trespassers. I imagine if someone were to be in a position where they need to set up a tent, the light from your by buildings would provide enough comfort to know they won't be disturbed.
Hopefully you're not still waiting on an answer, but just in case: This facility is long-since closed, after extensive loss & damage from floodwaters. (I'm nothing more than a squatter, on the vacant lot.) New Hope Housing has the type of apartments that were offered here. They have at least one location in Houston - maybe more - and several across the State. An SRO stands for Single Resident Occupancy, meaning the apartment is likely smaller than an "efficiency," and only allows over person to live there. Be safe -- whether you're still out there, or not. Be safe
