Liz Berenato was amazing. At my Social Security Administration hearing, the first thing the judge did was to compliment Liz on how clear, complete and well-organized her filing was, so that he felt confident he fully understood my situation and would be able to render a fair judgement. My disability situation was tricky -- an acquired brain injury, not a traumatic brain injury -- so everyone outside of Bross & Frankel told me there was no chance SSA would find in my favor. But Liz's high-quality efforts worked and the judge granted my disability claim.

I would like to say Connie Atkins and the staff at Bross and Frankel took the time to listen to and answer all my questions in my case. I definitely recommend them.

Questions & Answers

If you currently receive SSI, can you also apply for SSD? Relative is 75 yrs old and still working

Hi Marjorie, If you are over full-retirement age, even if you are still working, you wouldn't be eligible for Social Security disability insurance. You may qualify for SS retirement benefits when eligible, but in either case, SSI is an income-based, means tested benefit, so you can only receive that if you don't have other income pushing you beyond financial eligibility. Hope this helps! (This is general information and not meant as legal advice or advice on a particular claim or matter)

Do I need disability papers first

Not at all. We help from initial applications for long term disability through federal court appeals, if needed.
