Uppity Renters in Streamwood are "second class citizens". Insert "renter" for the "N" word and welcome to Streamwood. On or about May 14, 2022 Streamwood's Officer Lopez violated our civil rights (right to inquire, complain, live in peace and seek lawful remedy absent fear of official retaliation in favor and bias toward First Class Home Owning citizens) were trampled. When contacting police regarding perennial Rummage selling neighbors permit , Officer Lopez told us we should "call Police rather than ask our Rummaging neighbors if they had a permit" (a permit wasn't posted and they have several rummage sales throughout the summer). Then Officer Lopez stated "you're an uppity (my words) Renter and I will contact your Landlord" presumably to provide false, misleading and deragatory statements to our Landlord (possibly leading to eviction or lease termination for contacting police while renting). That's a threat and also a paradox. Call police for nuisance but never as a renter (second class citizens) when a Streamwood homeowner is the offender. We have two Police Officers in our family and we love them both. But think Officer Lopez should not prejudice and discriminate against renters (we are people too and not second class citizens). Would Officer Lopez threaten to call my Home Insurance Company (for contacting police to verify a valid permit was in place) if I were a Homeowner? And, who told Officer Lopez I was a Renter evoking the harsh and threatening scolding? Officer Lopez you are better than this. Disapointed, but still Love n Respect our Streamwood Police and Fire. Warm Regards, Michael Note: this was the first and only time we have contacted Streamwood Police for this Rummage Sale nuisance issue.

In preparation of our newborn on the way, my wife and I set up an appointment with the Streamwood Police Department for car seat training. We had the pleasure of being assigned Officer Sparks. Officer Sparks walked us through the ins and outs of what to do, and what not to do, when setting up our car seat. He was very patient, informative, very polite, and had a lot of tips and tricks to offer. Make sure you give yourself a little over an hour if you are meeting an officer one-on-one. If you think this class is a waste of time, It's not! and it's a Free class, so why not do it?! Thank you to Officer Sparks and the Streamwood Police Department for your time and service!
