The first room I was checked into wasn't on the "clean" list, meaning the staff hadn't been informed the room had to be cleaned. It hadn't. Not a big deal. I was switched to another room., tried the key and it would not open the door (was told the maglock was broken). So they gave me a master key, literally an actual key to open the door. Also not a big deal. While I was waiting for the master key, another customer complained that his window on the first floor had no locking device and was locked by a broken broom handle. I kid you not, an employee went to see if he could help (seemed like a good guy) and he walked out of the room with a broken broom handle used to secure the window. No word on how that issue was resolved. Anyway, back to having the master key for the bedroom. I guess I hand the master key off to housekeeping so they can access the room to clean? I don't know, it would seem much easier just to put me in a room with a working door handle. Either way, the staff seems to do their part as much as possible and if I were to guess it's poor middle management for holiday inn express. I was pitched some horrible "time-share-esque" proposal while just trying to book a hotel room, 3rd party of course. Maybe Holiday Inn could focus more on customers, facility maintenance, and satisfaction. Just an idea.

Staff very helpful. Jackie was great. Downside was after making reservations I called back to check since I never got a confirmation. Reservations were lost. Jackie redid reservations. Great job on her part. Staff needs to work a little harder. Elevators not well taken care of. Thanks.

Very quiet and dog friendly! Front staff were very sweet and gave us a discount due to a bathroom light fixture malfunction. (Would have required someone to enter the room - and dismantle the light.... We chose to skip it since there was a light over the tub/shower).

Ok stay. Walking into lobby, a guest was in lobby with no mask and front desk didn't seem to say anything to individual. Guest next door had TV blaring from 2am through the early morning. Woman working boxed breakfast was sitting in room without mask on. Opened shades this morning to dead bugs and leaves on window sill and A/C unit is dirty, so apparently attention to detail is not happening. I have a higher expectation for hotels during this time.
