Went here to adopt a new dog. The staff was very friendly and helped us match a rescue to our family. Good people trying to look out for those animals

Almost 4 months ago we adopted Rollo (now named Rookie) from this shelter and had a great experience! The people are very kind and helpful and care about you making the best choice. I asked all kinds of questions and the young lady we worked with answered everything I wanted to know. Rookie (Rollo) was reserved when we met him, wasn’t interested in toys, and seemed a little unsure of everything. I think it’s safe to say he has come out of his shell. He loves cuddling, playing with toys, running around chasing critters out in the back yard. We are to grateful and thankful for the shelters help and abs thankful to have Rookie with us 💕

Currently not open for walk in visiting. No worries. Apply online, Call to make appointment, then go visit the pets available and hopefully find a new friend. You'll be glad you did 🐶🐱🤗

Adoptable cats are from just weaned from mothers to senior age. Cats are not declawed and you are not permitted to declawed cats after adoption.
Hi Jeremiah, we are located in Kent County Maryland, right outside of the town of Chestertown.
Hi Anne Marie, the staff members are on site from 8 to 4 every day of the week to take care of all of the animals and open to the public for visits from 11 to 4 Tuesday thru Saturday.
Hi Jennifer. Yes we do have an adoption fee for our animals. The regular prices are as follows: $175 for dogs, $75 for cats, and $25 for senior animals (7+ years old). However we frequently have adoption specials and for the month of December dogs are $50 and cats are $25. Our adoption fees help us recover just some of the costs to have the animal spayed/neutered, vaccinations, blood testing, flea and tick preventatives, food, medical care and more. Thank you for inquiring!
Hi Suzanne. Checks can still be made payable to The Humane Society of Kent County. Thank you!
