The worst sauerbraten I ever had. The meat had alot of fat on it. I informed the restaurant manager, and he bought out two more slices of meat, that was a little better. I could only eat half. I should have left. Tab beer was good, but I was looking forward for a good sauerbraten. I had my wife with me and the meat she had wasn't that much better. This was my first time eating there. We are of germanic decent and are accustomed to better quality food.

Excellent pretzel. Great beers and good atmosphere. I take away the star in comparison to some German establishments in the five boroughs. The goulash, while tender needed some seasoning. The spaetzle just comes out bare and boiled, a little salt or something would be nice.

My favorite German spot on LI! This place is great. The staff are all friendly and make you feel like family. I don't think the decor has changed since the 80s but it's so classic and kept very clean. And the food is out if this world. I went with the wurst platter with potato pancakes. You get 3 sausages in total. One pork, one beef, and one veal. All a good size with distinctly different tastes. The pork was my favorite with a bit of a smoky flavor to it. The potato pancakes were nice and crispy. They had a soft inside and were the best with a spoonful of applesauce on top. I also tried the Jagerschnitzel. This was probably my favorite Jagerschnitzel I've ever had in a restaurant. It's veal, not pork, and between them cooking it perfectly and the taste of the mushroom sauce, I was in love. For desert, I went with a peach Melba. I believe it was Häagen-dazs ice cream, a fresh sliced peach on top, and a layer of raspberry jam. Great way to end the meal.

Old world classic, favorite local spot... jagerschnitzel, sauerbraten, bratwurst, potato pancake w/ applesauce, dumplings, red cabbage, have them all each time you come here! You'll have to go more than once, that's for sure. One less star is for service (we sat in the back of restaurant and a little out of touch) could have been a good thing, until we needed some extra gravy and drink refills, no luck for several minutes also noice factor is loud. Still great choice!
