Food was delicious! We had the duck as well as the fried chicken. The chicken was probably the best we've ever had. The batter was light and crispy but, so flavorful and then it had a honey glaze drizzle that sent it over the top. It is perfectly accompanied by a watermelon salad and a delightful jalapeño corn bread. Mmm

Nice accomodations. Could stand some updates. Overall, very nice place to stay.

The good…the rooms were large and roomy. We stayed at the “village” portion of MacCallum. It was quiet and had a 2 person hot tub in the semi private courtyard. Beds were very comfortable. The bad…property was dirty. Carpet was filthy with stains. Clearly from photos no one has cleaned the floors in sometimes. We stayed for 2 nights and floors remained the same the entire time. Also, no maid service. It seems they are milking the Covid thing still, I’m guessing to save money at the expense of the customer. At over $300 a night, with an aarp discount, one would expect someone to sweep and vacuum.

We stayed two nights the bar and indoor dining is closed due to COVID! This is over kill. I would guess 50% of town was abandoned with empty store fronts. The town is falling into a point of no return. We are super sad too since it has always been a favorite place to visit. The McCallum house has also been our go too. The day after the Fourth of July the McCallum outdoor restaurant was closed along with Flows, Frankie’s, the French place etc. Patterson was open but we had our grandsons with us and there are no kids allowed so that wasn’t an option. The good life bakery was open but closed at 3pm so for dinner we will skip or go to Fort Bragg. I hope for the McCallum hides sake they get there historic what was a wonder bar and restaurant back up and in order plus the town better do an immediate turn around or it will be a once was if it’s not already to late.

The fires were in Mendocino County Mendocino town is actually quite a ways from where the fires were it's of course right on the on the Seacoast and there were no fires there. My wife and I just stayed about a month ago at the MacCallum House and it was very very nice and weather was great no no hint of fires in that area.
Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 11am.
SFO is the closest large international airport. You could probably catch a connection to santa rosa but wither way you're driving a few hours.
