I'm not sure why a question about the structure of government is in here about a store. So to answer part of your question, no, we still live in a democracy. As far as the mask requirement to help stop the spread of a virus that is especially hard on the elderly, of which this store has many on staff and even more as members, yes, those are going to be required as of the 20th. You still have the option of ordering groceries from places like Amazon and the like. That way you can stay in your home and not have to wear any mask that may save someone's life.

Make are required for entry, they have sanitizer wipes at the entrance for the carts I usually see them spraying disinfectant on the carts as well.
