Hair on bathroom floor and shower wall. Hallway smells of marijuana. Towels had stains. Cigarette burn in sheets. Disgraceful this establishment carries the Days Inn name.

I made a booking through Booking.com. After an exhausting 6 hour drive in a thunderstorm on winding Vermont and New York roads, I arrived to Days Inn with my printed out confirmation in hand. There was no one at the desk, though I could see they were in a room just off the front desk area. I called out “hello!” to no response. I saw a sign to dial a number on a little phone by the desk to call someone. It just called the hotels number, lol. A man came out and immediately upon seeing my print-out said that they didn’t have any rooms. When I gave him my name, he clicked in his computer twice and said “we don’t have you in our system, and we don’t have any more rooms.” We went back and forth, me offering the name I go by (rather than my given name), showing the confirmation emails I received directly from Wyndam, showing my payment information, even having Booking call him to talk to him. His response remained the same with the occasional “I don’t know what to tell you!” He never typed anything into the computer. He revealed to the Booking.com guy that there were two rooms with leaks, so I think I was booked into one of them and he didn’t want to admit it. I booked the room because it was the cheapest one I could find in this area, so I wasn’t expecting much. But for what it’s worth: the lobby was in a sorry state. Messy, smelled mildewy, and haphazardly placed furniture. I noticed a sign stating their complimentary “breakfast” of bagels was no longer offered. On the way out, an unusually awake man came into the lobby and asked me for a cigarette. Do what we did: go to the Holiday Inn down the street. Only $40 more than I was going to pay for the Days Inn by Wyndam, and has a heated pool, hot breakfast, a restaurant, and the staff was incredibly friendly.

This motel doesn't deserve so much as one star. Besides the general rundown and disgusting condition of the motel there is suspicious activity both inside and outside the property which is apparently overlooked and seemingly allowed by the employees/management. On October 10th, 2021, I stayed at this Days Inn upon making a last minute decision to spend the night in Auburn, NY. Room availability in the area that evening was very limited. Through a booking service two rooms were reserved since we were under the impression that Days Inn was a reputable motel chain. Was I surprised by what we encountered!! The male at the reception desk was inefficient and quick to make excuses to remove blame from himself for mistakes that were obviously his. As we checked in, he appeared nervous while glancing furtively at a group of men who entered the reception area from somewhere inside the motel. The men loitered for several minutes before eventually drifting out the front door. I later returned to the reception area and saw the same male clerk standing in the interior hallway in conversation with two other men who quickly left when the clerk gave them a telling look as I entered the front door. On both occasions there was a distinct furtiveness to his manner. it took the clerk three tries before he could produce a working room key to unlock an unoccupied room. The first key provided unlocked the door to an already occupied room where a man was lying on the bed. A subsequent key to a different room failed to open the door at all. Finally on the third attempt at a third room, the key card opened the door successfully to an unoccupied room. The clerk excused these issues as being the fault of the cleaning crew and not himself. Upon entering the downstairs hallway carrying our luggage, a young man in his late teens or early twenties came riding towards us on a bicycle with a toddler riding on the handlebars. They exited the motel through a glass side door into the parking lot while still on the bike. My experience of staying in hotels or motels has never included such behavior!! As I walked the hallway back to my room, I could hear the loud voices of many people gathered inside numerous rooms. Throughout the night there was the sound of activity in the hallways and a combined scratching/knocking on the doors and then on the wall between my room and the adjacent one. I pushed the occasional chair up against the door in an effort to create noise to wake me in the event of someone opening the door during the night. However, sleep was evasive so my efforts were unnecessary. The physical condition of the motel is very rundown and an unpleasant odor permeates throughout. The carpeting, particularly on the stairway, was threadbare and the hand rail was so sticky i was repulsed by having touched it. There were cigarette burns in the blanket and the bathroom walls and sink were dirty. The bathroom door would not close completely. Since this unpleasant stay, my efforts to share these experiences and obtain a refund from Days Inn have fallen on deaf ears. The customer service representative has made no direct replies to any of the numerous issues at the property which need to be addressed. She stated that the only way to get a refund is through the company which booked the rooms. More important than my refund is that negative reviews for this location have been posted over the last four years. Many disappointed travelers have written about not only the rundown physical condition of the motel but the suspicious nature of much of the activity there. Days Inn and their parent company Wyndham should be ashamed and are complicit if they fail to take measures to take corrective action. I have reported what i observed to the Auburn Police Department.

Absolutely disgusting, filthy. Wouldn't go back there on a bet. Dirty microwave. Black stains in the bathtub. Broken window sill. Rips on the chair upholstery. Cobwebs around the window. No elevator, you have to use the stairs. Breakfast area is about the size of a bathroom. Very poor breakfast selections. The two desk clerks didn't look clean enough to be employees. The only reason I gave this place 1 star is because I couldn't give it a zero or minus.
