We paid to reserve the covered picnic table for our son's birthday. It was nice to have access two the bbqs, water and power. Unfortunately, the garbage cans on site were completely full and the bbqs were full of debris. We spent some nontrivial amount of money to reserve the spot, they could've at least emptied the trash.

My three kids love playing in this park and there is a nice little hiking area behind it.

This was a great park for sledding! There are a few areas you have to be careful of due to over use causing very sharp and tough ice to be formed. Beware of whiteouts, and drop offs. The park does a good job putting hay bales around the dangerous things to bump into. Very steep hills and some very minor hills as well for smaller kids/ those new to sledding.

Does anyone know if there a lot of ticks here during the summer? People who take their dogs, any issues?

It hasn't opened in the past 8 years. I'm fairly certain they have no plans on ever opening it up again. There is a pool just north on Highway 395 not too far out. It is really nice with a slide and diving board. It has been a few years since my son did swim lessons there, but at the time the had fun events during the week like family movie and swim days. Can't promise they still do that. Just thought I would throw it out there since I had no idea it even existed for the longest time and it was the closest pool when we lived in the Holmberg area. It isn't very nice of them to keep an empty pool there for everyone to look at and never be able to use. Drove me crazy when I lived in that neighborhood ha.
