I have been with James B Nutter since 2004 after I bought my very first house. My parents have had James B Nutter for over 30 years now and since they had no issues, when I had to refinance away from the builder’s mortgage company, of course I went with them. For 18 years I paid on that house, never missed a payment. Never had any issues. This year my husband and I sold that house and bought a new one. Of course, since we have had great service with James B Nutter, we stayed with them, even though we actually could have gotten a slightly better rate with someone else. I like to stay loyal to companies who have proven themselves. This week, a week after closing, I get a phone call from a woman with a heavy accent that I can barely understand. She states that my mortgage company, doesn’t name it, sold my mortgage to them at Planet Lending and I need to pay her. We all get the calls from those with foreign accents trying to defraud us, so I laughed and said, “My mortgage company would never sell my business. They never informed me they were, and I can’t see them selling out a 20 year customer with no notice. You’re a fraud” and I hung up. I then called James B Nutter to see if they know of any scams going on. To my shock I am told that yeah they sold my mortgage to another company. No they didn’t let me know at any point in the process of this loan that it would be a possibility and someone would call me. No call….. So I e mail Steve Slocum. He confirms yes, they sold my mortgage, they do not care if I am unhappy or was a loyal customer for 20 years, it is what it is. So I want to warn people, do not use James B Nutter. Nothing is worse than standing by a company and being loyal for 20 years and then being told basically F you and we sold your mortgage to a company that has multiple class action suits

Totally closed-minded robots. If you want someone to be reasonable with you regarding your financial situation, you’ll be better off borrowing money from the mob. I don’t even care to explain what happened here, just take my word for it. Go elsewhere. Don’t waste your time like I did.

They are all about self. We need to help from them twice, and they turn on us down after 15 years we do have mortgage with them. People who works in Kansas City are without sense and it's impossible work with them.

The good: We were able to close and lock in a great 2021 rate. On closing day, the title company came to my house to get all the paperwork signed, which was very convenient. The rest: Very unprofessional, I recommend not using them to close. I sent close to 70 documents to prove I was a good borrower. Twice as long/hard as the loan I closed with a different company in 2019 (even though I was making more money and my house had appreciated 20%). Left a VM to the loan officer complaining about the slow pace and the party line: "we just need one more document and then we'll be ready to close" (which we heard 3 different times) and didn't hear back for an entire week. When loan officer called, my VM concerns were not mentioned. I feel like the business practices were deceitful. A new month would roll over and then updated documentS were needed since the old ones were not current, when it was Nutter dragging the process out. Finally, when they asked for "one more piece of paper" I refused. Several days later they figured out how to close us without that document. Over 70 days start to finish. The comments from others about mail "regarding your mortgage with JB Nutter" and the mail not coming from Nutter have been true for us, too. Seems deceptive.

I'm a loan officer. That is true it takes minimum 30 days for a refinance loan.
NO. They will tell you that you can make bi-weekly payments but, when it comes down to it, they will NOT allow it. Trust me.
NO they will not allow it. If someone is paying bi-weekly with James B. Nutter, they are using a third-party service that will charge a fee for holding your bi-weekly payments.
LeEtta, that happened to me once as well. I had to call them and they fixed the issue.
