I have tried texting the crisis line twice. They were not helpful either time. This time Olivia suggested we could brainstorm ways to help me together, but first she wanted to evaluate my timeline to kill myself. When she found out I don't have one, she asked if I've talked to other people about my woes. I said yes. She basically said that's a good thing. Then said she wanted to make sure I have time for self-care today, and closed the conversation. What BS. This conversation didn't help. It made things worse.

I reached out a couple of years ago. My son was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia at the time. I was completely lost so I called for information and help. I was told they did not do that and only had support groups every few weeks.

The people at NAMI Utah do amazing work helping people with mental illnesses. They really care about those they serve and their programs are evidence-based.

Is it a felony for any person of authority public and or private failing to act in behalf of a child a person of a diminished capacity and the elderly even for a judge even for a mental health care provider even a "bishop clergy" is it not time that nami defends this fact of constitutional law ?

Questions & Answers

My son has schizophrenia. Can you get a place for him? He's homeless. Do you have long term care for him? He really is a hard case. He has youth onset of it. Once he gets off of meds, he's right back doing drugs and homeless.

NAMI doesn't provide counseling or housing - they provide peer-led education programs, support groups, and advocacy. There is a mentoring program, though, you can call and ask about it. There is a class for family members of mentally ill people called Family to Family, where you can learn more about mental illness and meet other parents who have adult children with serious mental illnesses. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Good luck! - Carling Mars Communications Chair, NAMI Salt Lake affiliate
